Fortuna Dusseldorf

Kaiserslautern were down there a few years back with a similar sized ground. Won the league in 1997 as well.

RW Essen 1-0 up from the first leg. Sunderland is twinned with Essen isn't it? Red and white too hence the name. Haway the German lads.

RW Essen were the first German team to play in European competition. They played in the first season of the European Cup in the 50s.

Paderborn were promoted into the Bundesliga a few years ago for the first time, this year’s promotion will be the second time. I used to go and watch them when I lived in Germany, always a great day out.
It was Elversberg I'd read about, just checked the table they were second.

1860 munchen about to go out of business as well.

A lot of big German teams have gone to shit in recent years

Got family from Krefeld so used to follow Bayer Uerdingen when i was a kid.

Beat Bayern in the cup final and then Bayer decided to pump all their cash into Leverkusen and then they plummeted
TSV München have been in economic shit one way or another for nigh on 40 years.

Went to Stuttgart v 1860 match in 2017...got talking to a load of 1860 lads who were all spot on, think both Stuttgart and 1860 were both in division 2 at the time...cracking weekend that was.

ah whereabouts?
my mob are from St Tonis

i only found out last year that Pete Doherty is a big fan
Random as fuck that one haha

I was based in St Tonis barracks as a young squaddy in the late 80’s/early 90’s. A lot of our lads would have went to Uerdingen games. Watched them a few times myself. Was a good day out and we seemed to be well received enough by the locals is my recollection 😄.

ah nice
Used to love a good walk through Forstwald when i was a kid.
Was always told to keep an eye out for anyone with an Irish accent

The fan experience in Germany pisses all over the Premier League. We're fortunate at the minute that our match day hasn't yet been sanitised by the PL with loads of corporate tickets and tourists, so we've kept our atmosphere.

Don’t ever recall walking through the Forstwald. Always seemed to be running it 😂. Fond memories of the place. Smashing part of the world. Keep having notions of going back for a visit although I’m sure it’s changed somewhat. Maybe take a week around Cologne and Essen. Remember some nice days/nights out there too. Tie it all in with an Uerdingen game for old time sake 😄
