Yep, won’t be the same, albeit Jez has done the odd lead vocal before.Listened to a session on 6music the other day & although I enjoyed it, just doesn’t sound right without Jimi

Owa the moon Pastel are playing Monument as I’ve missed the last two Cluny gigs, purely based on inconvenient nights. I’ll give Rolla a listen. Two recent gigs at the Cluny - Purple Hearts on 7 February and Pastel last Thursday. Decent support for Pastel, band called Rolla.
Next is Ocean Colour Scene at city hall on 4 May. Just noticed Glen Matlock is playing Cluny on 21 May
Steve winwood tribute band? Clarinet basedELO - Hyde Park Last ever gig, taking my two grown up sons as they are part of the soundtrack of their childhood.
Doobie Bros and Steve Windwood supporting.
Gave Rolla a listen. I like them. Sound like sensible support for Pastel. Got that early Verve/Oasis showgazier sounds going on.Two recent gigs at the Cluny - Purple Hearts on 7 February and Pastel last Thursday. Decent support for Pastel, band called Rolla.

Aye, also saw Pastel at the Cluny 2 in 2023. Went purely because a few mates were going and was one of those gigs you go to more for a night out. Ended up picking up on Afflecks Palace and now Rolla as a result. Some good Manc bands in that scene.Gave Rolla a listen. I like them. Sound like sensible support for Pastel. They’ll be laughed at by loads on here like, cos they’re treading old ground in terms of sound, but I’d go to see them.
Aye canny young band, check out some of the others I mentioned like Afflecks Palace and Rolla. Vega Rally also decent. Few of them on same label, Spirit Of Spike IslandHadn't heard of Pastel until reading this thread but just had a listen and right up my street.
Just read your other post mate, saw Marseille at Little Buildings, tiny venue next to the Tanners in 2022. Good as well. One of the lads we were out with for the crack is involved with promoting them. Nothing original in what they play in so much as like you say, it's treading old ground but I like them anywayBeen persuaded to get Pit Pony tickets at Pop Recs for a few weeks. Had a listen & they remind me of Sprints.

Marseille are worth a try. Got a similar sound.
When I saw pastel at independent, it was a spirit of spike island tour. Vega Rally played 1st, then Pastel, and headlining were afflecks palace. The headliners were the worst. Boring. Vega Rally was really good. He looked just a bairn, playing guitar over loops and beats, just him on stage. Pastel were best though, even though it was just a few songs. Something about them. Sound like early verve.Aye, also saw Pastel at the Cluny 2 in 2023. Went purely because a few mates were going and was one of those gigs you go to more for a night out. Something else worth mentioning and it's a refreshing change from bands playing Newcastle and arselicking the mags. Pastel's singer said something like "its always great when we play up here even though I can't do the geordie accent but (points to guitarist) he can". Guitarist - "Shearer is a c**t".
