Forthcoming gigs.

penguin cafe last night at the fire station. played 2 sets. new album, then 2nd set was more focussed on the father's penguin cafe orchestra tracks. first night of the tour, decent turn out

first time in the venue. really like the place, but the bar can GTF. ordered a lager shandy and they tried to charge £8. walked away from the bar, at that point..turns out the earlier round a mate bought, was £10.50 for a shandy and can of water  . even £6 next door is a liberty when it was only £3 for a pint of coke in the peacock
Really? Thought it was about £6.20 for a pint of the Salt IPA. They must have got that wrong on the software on the till or sumat?

Went to see Soup Dragons on Wednesday at Think Tank. First time I'd been to the venue, similar size to the new Riverside, canny little place to see bands like. Soup Dragons good too. Nowt until Primitives at Boiler Shop in January now

Been getting into the Primitives lately. Been on at Kubix & Stone Valley a few times when I’ve been & always avoided them. Only just realised there’s a few cracking tunes that would make a good 45min set.

Saw them late 80s few times. Got some good songs, when they started were bit like Mary Chain with a Ramones punk edge

just ordered tickets for new model army at northampton in february and newcastle in april. considering leeds and glasgow but they would be footy dependant. watford away for the leeds gig and at home for the glasgow one.

the lass double checked and the reason seemed to be that they had to charge extra for the (small) can of lemonade.. the numbers don't seem to add up to me..

Went to see The Split Squad at the Central Bar in Gateshead - a Power Pop/Punky Rock 'n' Roll band featuring Blondie`s Clem Burke on drums and Keith Streng from The Fleshtones on guitar - probably the most energetic show I`ve seen from such a small stage. Great fun. Canny support from Sunderland Punk band Loudmouth too.
South of Salem think tank tomorrow, heaven 17 boiler shop friday, punk night at unionist club on Saturday 😀
They`re canny - I`m sure I saw them open for Bullet For My Valentine earlier this year.

Heaven 17 were one of the bands of the day at Kubix this year. Thought they were brilliant.

I enjoyed the first half as much as the second which surprised me. The audience was older than I thought it might be too. I enjoyed that there was a massive queue to get stuff signed afterwards and that all of the band seemed to be behind the merch table obliging. I took the time to answer my emailed 'You visited the Fire Station' survey and my answers were very positive except I had a blast about bar prices. They need telling.

aye, twas an older, cooler crowd ;) and agree about the signing. i wouldn't have minded the latest album, but was half looking around for a lift and they've gone (the bastards)

100% need telling about those bar prices

Think Tank used to be great, though most people avoid it these days, due to the shitty SSD Concerts situation (same goes for Riverside)
