I'm on the Wandering Oak mailing list and they advertised discount tickets for this a while back too. Can only assume sales have been slow all along, which is a shame as they're a very good band. I think it's the first gig this promoter has put on at the Boiler Shop and they must be trying to claw back what they can. I'm looking forward to it.Not a great sign. Well I enjoyed London Calling at the cluny, although the weather was awful getting there and back.
No problem it’s a shame we weren’t there on the same night. You must be logged on to see external links
Been to see them tonight..fantastic..played ‘Give em enough Rope’ all the way through..superb..thanks for telling me brother what time they came on.
Wandering Oak did Billy Nomates at Boiler Shop recently, which was probably about 60% full (tickets were only £17).I'm on the Wandering Oak mailing list and they advertised discount tickets for this a while back too. I didn’t know they were on two nights plus the weather put me off on Friday. No problem it’s a shame we weren’t there on the same night.
It was dry insideI didn’t know they were on two nights plus the weather put me off on Friday.
Young Barboza off to see Arctic Numpties tonight at The Riverside
Saw Royal Blood at Kendall and while I thought they were good to start I thought it became a bit repetitive- not sure if that was just the festival set.Got to say I really enjoyed Royal Blood last night, thought I didnt know many of their songs but clearly I did.
I know the main guy is perceived as a bit of a knob but they are very good
Support band was decent as well, Hot Wax.
And first time ive seen music in the Globe, good venue for it, standing was great as good view due to seating slope (where theyd been removed), and sound was good too.
Bring on QOTSA, now that one I cant wait for next month!
Suggest a few songs for me Mick, and I'll give them a whirl this arvo.Europe were absolutely outstanding on Thursday night at the Glasshouse/Sage.
They are far, far more than just 'The Final Countdown' playing a show of 26 songs over 3 hours and still with the same band members as they had in the mid-80`s. Joey Tempest is an outstanding front man who can still the songs in the same key that they were originally written. John Norum must be about the most underrated guitarist around with a beautiful tone akin to Michael Schenker`s.
They are head and shoulders above their peers from the 80`s and are a rare breed where their more recent albums are better than those in their supposed heyday.
Far from being a cheesy Pop/Rock band their style is more akin to the classic Heavy Rock of the 70`s like Rainbow, 'Burn' era Deep Purple, UFO and Thin Lizzy.
Quite possibly the best live band I`ve seen in a long, long time.
We ignored them for years, probably because of 'that song', but we decided to check them out on the Last Look at Eden tour about 2008/9 and were blown away. What a really good band they are. For me I'd start with Last look at Eden and Secret Society Albums.Suggest a few songs for me Mick, and I'll give them a whirl this arvo.
War Of Kings, Walk The Earth, Last Look At Eden, Kingdom United, Not Supposed To Sing The Blues, Firebox, Start From The Dark, Bag Of Bones, Praise You and Girl From Lebanon are a few worth checking out. Interested to know what you think.Suggest a few songs for me Mick, and I'll give them a whirl this arvo.
