Thats interesting because I've seen it compared to professional heart monitors and it's fairly accurate. In fact it's considered the best wrist based mid range monitor there is.its all guess work on movement, it's only the yanks that take it seriously

Wearable maker Fitbit was hit with a class-action lawsuit yesterday, just after the unveiling of its newest fitness watch.
In the suit, consumers from California, Colorado, and Wisconsin allege that the heart rate tracking in the Charge HR and the Surge, two products that came to market last year, is inaccurate by a "significant margin,"
Is that a euphemism?
Weird thing to lie aboutOr lies.

Will be interesting to see the outcome of the court case. Some independent studies have shown that it's only out by 3bpm at medium workouts and shows 144bpm when at 150bpm.measured with lights, the only one i trust is gps & miles walked, I've had a few fitness trackers & most don't last a year
When your heart beats, your capillaries expand and contract based on blood volume changes. PurePulse™ LED lights on your tracker reflect onto the skin to detect blood volume changes and finely tuned algorithms are applied to measure heart rate automatically and continuously. The heart rate icon you see on the display tells you if you're in one of three heart rate zones.
