Fire Starters - First gigs announced for Fire Station

Got my holiday at work for Rich Hall next week 😎

Was able to go even if it was rejected like but it would have been a rush.

Now I can have a nice meal nearby and few slurps - will be sensible as I’m in the front row and don’t want to be picked on for being pissed 😆
I meant to get tickets for this a while back and forgot. Just got them, my mates will be dead impressed with being right at the back.

‘After defeat, re-enchantment is necessary’, said Lola Olufemi. This thought inspires Josie Long’s brand-new show of stand-up infused with humanity, compassion and some brief political rants. The triple Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, underdog Fringe hero and delirious new mother (the first person to have two babies) returns with a show about the changes wrought by time, passion, moving to Scotland, and loving the world under – let’s face it – difficult circumstances.

★★★★★ “She’s the consummate comedian. A wonderful talent.” Broadway Baby
★★★★★ “Stunning, riotously hilarious” The Skinny
★★★★ “Josie Long has long been a favourite…brilliantly evocative, an original and unflagging spirit.” The Times
★★★★ ”What a delight to have Josie Long back…the perfect cure for a spot of November SAD” The Telegraph
★★★★ “The motherlode of love, joy and laughs” Guardian
★★★★ “A near constant hour of laughs” The Scotsman
★★★★ “Rowdy, brilliant, sweary, beautiful, funny” Chortle

I love Josie but I already have tickets for the Stand in January, same tour. Then again, by September I'll have forgotten all the jokes so .......
It was certainly that. Enjoyed it but couldn't tell you what went on in the film. Lots more tits and fannies than I expected.
Still reeling from paying £6 for a pint of 0% beer.

A mate said after the show "I've not seen that many hairy fannies since I stopped buying Mayfair in the 70s." Lot of cocks as well though.

I enjoyed looking at it without having a clue what the point was and the music was tremendous, especially the two female vocalists.

Was it all original songs? A bit folkish?

8/9 piece band. Electronics with some guitar and strings. Lisa Knapp is a great 'folk singer' so fitted in with the images, though wasn't singing in her normal style, and @Twisted thought the other woman sings with Hannah Peel's orchestra - black, blind, fantastic voice, didn't catch her name. Was a decent crowd there in the end and well-earned prolonged applause.

They all turned up in the dun cow afterwards and yes it was the same singer, victoria I think they said. Well spotted, I was given quite the commendation for recognising her.

Aaah, I just looked on Spotify, and the album came out in 2018. Wonder why they took so long to tour it?Gonna give it a listen tommorrow at work on your recommendation

Some talented musicians there, they all seemed to multi task. I enjoyed when Jerusalem seemed to morph into some distorted version on the Korg.

Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult

Cara Dillon, one of the most celebrated folk voices to have come out of Ireland, brings her annual Christmas show “Upon A Winter’s Night” to Sunderland. The overwhelming success of previous tours cement this magical festive experience as a firm tradition for many years to come.

Cara and her band capture the Christmas spirit with a collection of songs ancient and modern providing a welcome reminder that the festive season can be about more than just commercialism.

A far cry from “Jingle Bells” and “Santa Baby”, Cara will be joined by her wonderful band who weave Celtic and folksy rhythms alongside reverent and atmospheric carols while Cara holds the darkness at bay with the purity of her voice.

As modest and down to earth as they come, Cara admits to being taken aback by the success of her acclaimed Christmas album “Upon A Winter’s Night” when it reached Number 1 in the Indie Album Charts not once, but twice in 2016. There is another side to Christmas…far away from Bing crooning and Noddy screaming…it’s a place where the story of Jesus’ birth is retold with genuine wonder and celebrated with the dignity, passion and beauty it deserves. Christmas is one of Cara’s passions and her live show and album only go to prove it.

Throughout an enviable career which has seen her explore opportunities to tread many different paths – from releasing folk crossover albums on indie label Rough Trade; working on Disney soundtracks to collaborations with leading UK dance DJ/producers – Cara has continuously chosen to firmly plant herself within the landscape of her cultural heritage. She occupies a position at the very top of the Irish Folk genre. This extraordinary Irish singer has been captivating audiences, winning awards and achieving exceptional acclaim for over 20 years. She has (according to Mojo magazine) “Quite possibly the world’s most beautiful female voice”.

“Simple and stunning” – The Sunday Times

“An instant Christmas classic” – BBC

“Enchantment aplenty” – The Independent ★ ★ ★ ★

“A reminder of the real meaning of the Festive Season, uplifting and inspirational” – The Daily Echo
