Fan Interactions with Other People in the Capital

Great weekend like everyone else has said people just coming up and wanting to chat and wish Sunderland well. My favourites was I was in a bar chatting to a Milwall fan who was mint and 2 lasses came in saw my top and wished us well , turns out they were West Ham ...anyway chatted a bit and a lovely budding romance was growing between the Milwall lad and the West Ham fan . The other lass had actually only come to the pub with her mate " cos she loves northern men" she disappeared from her mate was last seen among our fans. See we are just spreading the love

Went to Sports Direct on Oxford Street to get a bag small enough to carry into Wembley and the bloke in front of me at the counter was a Geordie. Had a bit of banter, he said he wanted us to win and wished us good luck before saying something about zero hour contracts to the manager and storming off.

Saturday night lots of randomers coming up an congratulating us, on the tube and in the streets. One Crystal Palace supporter we met in a pub insisting on buying us a couple of rounds, as he just wanted to talk to us about the match and the makems; we exchanged numbers and going to take him and his mates and his dad Keith on the lash when they play us at the SOL.

Love that mind.

The whole weekend felt like my 73 experience as a 16 year old.
Then it was the underdogs against dirty Leeds, this trip was more about people having a knowledge of, and affinity with us as a club and supporters group.

I know how great we are, I reckon most real football fans know it too.

Scenes all weekend unbelievable, among the best was singing the Enzo song for 15 minutes continuously under the bridge waiting for the tube, fantastic.

Loved the rickshaws playing Wise Men say around Covent Garden/Soho, mental.

My daughters’ best bit was celebrating the winner with Jermaine Defoe in the press box and having the pictures to remember it by!

I was right at the front with the kids. The police in the line were just looking on smiling and thinking this lot are mental 😂
Random ‘Haway The Lads’ all over London all weekend

My youngest lad 7 kept doing it every time we got on / off the tube. He was buzzing folk doing it back to him everywhere.

He’s shattered today!! But what an experience & weekend.

We’re all wiped out in our house.

Except our 5 year old who’s just got back from Nanna’s…. and is currently running amock in a Harry Potter robe with Nutella smeared all over her face

No rules in our house today :D

Got a few comments walking over tower bridge before the game, everyone wishing us well and hoping we’d win.

After the game we were walking back to the car in Chorleywood and a bloke outside his house stopped us to congratulate us and talk about the atmosphere and the game and couldn’t believe our fans. He started shouting when we left “we are premier league”.

What a weekend man, no matter what happens come August, I will never forget Saturday.

We stayed in a hotel in Luton after the game. We walked into a nearby Wetherspoons in our tops as couldn’t be arsed to get changed and the whole pub clapped and cheered for us. We then sat down for a few celebratory drink and lots of strangers coming over for a chat and got a few drinks bought for us. Surreal but lovely.

Had to tell a couple of cockneys to fuck off and walk away but apart from that they all seem a decent enough bunch. Didn't impact my enjoyment of the weekend.
