Fan Interactions with Other People in the Capital

Mags will obviously see it as 6 points every season, get the Derby back, enjoy gloating at being above us every season etc.
6 points every season isn’t a given. Plenty Derby games yield less than 6 points when, bias aside, they should. Next season it should be. Thereafter who knows.
Gloating about league placing, whilst in the same division, yes obviously. It’s part of the ‘game’.

They haven’t beaten us for a long time in the league. It’s not a sure fire thing they will start next season.
Imagine if we somehow won the first derby... the Mags have an off day and the luck is with us. They'll have to unilaterally rejoin the EU to import enough horses and telephone boxes to deal with the fury and hysteria.

Met a guy on train back to the digs on Saturday night. Big Arsenal fan. Turns out he has a box and has invited me, the wife and kids down when we play them. Even rang me up yesterday to confirm he wasn’t full of shit. He said he loved how we won and loved how we are a family orientated fan base. Looked him up on LinkedIn and he’s owns a big financial company. Winner!
It’s a trap! 😋

Walked around London all day yesterday with my Sunderland top on and was congratulated by every football fan. Even a few foreign tourists spotted the colours and gave a shout for Sunderland. We walked into a Wetherspoons near Bank at 12 and was cheered into the pub by Spurs and Brighton fans. Got talking to a few and said that they had family in Fulwell & Roker! Brighton fans were over the moon that Tommy scored the winner but they all think that he won’t play much of a part next season. We were then clapped out!

Sunderland do take over everywhere they go. Every corner we turned the whole weekend, was red and white. The scenes on Saturday night were unbelievable, I truly believe that there were more Mackems than tourists. Every pub was packed: The Harp, The Round House, The White Lion & The Nags Head.

The best moment after the game was in Tottenham Court Road tube station around 9.30pm. Got off the tube and heard someone playing Elvis on guitar. We recognised it straight away and legged it to him and started singing with him for about 5 minutes and other SAFC fans to the bemusement of tourists and I think the busker .

Also a mention for the police on the Saturday night in Covent Garden, outside the Nags End. Absolutely superb! They were all class and they all acknowledged how big of a win this was for us. One of them taking photos with all of us giving us his hat and everything.

Overall, a weekend that I will never forget ever. From start to finish, it was packed with excitement, nervousness and happiness. The weekend would not have been what it was without every other Sunderland fan in London! I’m proud of where I come from. I’m proud to be a Mackem. I’m proud of being a Sunderland fan. Great post. Sums up a lot of our experiences over the course of the weekend. Occasions like these are what bring the fans together and remind us that what we have as a fan base and as a club is so special. Magical weekend.

Almost everyone in the city was sound and seemed to be enjoying the craic. Some gazed on a bit mystified at it all, some came and had a chat, some joined in.

Last few times I've been to London I've felt the craic was way better than it used to be years ago.

Only downsides were the absolute killjoy of a landlady in the pre-match boozer on Saturday - no flags, no singing, no talking, no standing slightly off the curb, was an absolute misery.

Then the absolute killjoy cops on Saturday, acting like absolute tossers, all miserable and trying to cause problems instead of letting people celebrate.

But fuck them, they wanna be absolute Misery's then fine. Wasn't going to get any of our fans down.

I promise I'm not taking the piss
Outside the white lion about 5 pm on Friday some lad was vomiting and I was walking away - and some big lad with a fit lass was watching
I had a chat with them and they were American and asked what it was all for and what we were celebrating!
I'm so chuffed to meet an American and tell them the game was the next day 🤣

I think the huge amount the Mags have spent has made a massive imbalance in squads that wasn’t there in previous derbies ( the cup one a side )
Going to be difficult for us to compete -but you never know in football ?
Hopefully gradually we continue to recruit well and keep improving

Their midfield 3 is one of the best in the league in my opinion.
