Fan Interactions with Other People in the Capital

QPR, all at Wealdstone FC, Man United fan (who hated the mags), Northern Irish lass behind the bar, just everyone everywhere, even truckers and other cars on the M1/M18 on the way back all beeping at us and cheering as they went past.
Unbelievable.
We've now got to take this into next season, ride on the crest of the wave and make sure we make it count. 17th place will do.

My wishes came from West Ham, Brentford, Chelsea and spurs. Genuinely wanting us to win. Never been so popular 🤩

Them fans were so good they said it twice. Very nice of them 😘

We spoke at length to loads of random strangers over a long celebratory weekend, all were very happy that Sunderland maybe/were back in the top league
Off the top of my head Tottenham Arsenal Palace Brighton Fulham Milwall ManUnited Liverpool Newcastle 🤷🏼‍♂️ obviously Sheffield and scores of Sunderland exiles, people from china USA France Australia infact every where apart from Russia 🤷🏼‍♂️everyone invited back to the Duck 🦆 Thompson Road whenever they venture up north for Mackem hospitality cheap beer and Terrys football cards HTL

Met a guy on train back to the digs on Saturday night. Big Arsenal fan. Turns out he has a box and has invited me, the wife and kids down when we play them. Even rang me up yesterday to confirm he wasn’t full of shit. He said he loved how we won and loved how we are a family orientated fan base. Looked him up on LinkedIn and he’s owns a big financial company. Winner!

This has all the makings of a true crime documentary, keep up posted.

Other than Cov, Sheff Utd and Boro, pretty much every team in England wanted us to get promoted. Secretly even most mags wanted us back in the PL.
Yeah that's true, was speaking with my lovely mag dad earlier on the phone and he said about how the place would be bouncing and was quite chipper for us (even though he's having a bit of a shitty time as he's back in hospital ffs 🥺😢, didn't even mention his team either bless him).

Walked around London all day yesterday with my Sunderland top on and was congratulated by every football fan. Even a few foreign tourists spotted the colours and gave a shout for Sunderland. We walked into a Wetherspoons near Bank at 12 and was cheered into the pub by Spurs and Brighton fans. Got talking to a few and said that they had family in Fulwell & Roker! Brighton fans were over the moon that Tommy scored the winner but they all think that he won’t play much of a part next season. We were then clapped out!

Sunderland do take over everywhere they go. Every corner we turned the whole weekend, was red and white. The scenes on Saturday night were unbelievable, I truly believe that there were more Mackems than tourists. Every pub was packed: The Harp, The Round House, The White Lion & The Nags Head.

The best moment after the game was in Tottenham Court Road tube station around 9.30pm. Got off the tube and heard someone playing Elvis on guitar. We recognised it straight away and legged it to him and started singing with him for about 5 minutes and other SAFC fans to the bemusement of tourists and I think the busker .

Also a mention for the police on the Saturday night in Covent Garden, outside the Nags End. Absolutely superb! They were all class and they all acknowledged how big of a win this was for us. One of them taking photos with all of us giving us his hat and everything.

Overall, a weekend that I will never forget ever. From start to finish, it was packed with excitement, nervousness and happiness. The weekend would not have been what it was without every other Sunderland fan in London! I’m proud of where I come from. I’m proud to be a Mackem. I’m proud of being a Sunderland fan. HAWAY THE LADS 🔴⚪
Was with my 6 year old so we headed home to Berkhamsted where we had to meet friends in Pizza Express.

Walking over to the table, we were stopped 3 times with people asking about the game then the waiter over and was full of it telling us that Luke O’Njen went to the same school as him so he always kept up with the lads.

The whole weekend felt like my 73 experience as a 16 year old.
Then it was the underdogs against dirty Leeds, this trip was more about people having a knowledge of, and affinity with us as a club and supporters group.

I know how great we are, I reckon most real football fans know it too.

Scenes all weekend unbelievable, among the best was singing the Enzo song for 15 minutes continuously under the bridge waiting for the tube, fantastic.

Loved the rickshaws playing Wise Men say around Covent Garden/Soho, mental.

My daughters’ best bit was celebrating the winner with Jermaine Defoe in the press box and having the pictures to remember it by!

I'd forgotten about those 😂

We went back to Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden after the match and on our way up Whitehall, had about 10 people who looked like foreign students come up and randomly gave me and Josh hugs and a couple of them shouted Ha'way The Lads.

Turns out they were in Covent Garden on the Friday and loads of our lot were being genuinely friendly to them and one even offered to buy them drinks because they couldn't get into the bars.

Sounds like we had a big impact on quite a few there.
We have fans all ower now
