F1 2026

Crazy decision - so they can break the rules untill August.

It’s a strange organisation the FIA.
It will depend how easy it is to make the current engine legal. If its not possible to make the current one legal you can’t have 8 cars sitting out the races.

Looks like Mercedes have until the summer break to make their engine legal. Testing method is being changed 1st of August
Might be a decent compromise, given they've probably got enough engines in the pipeline to make it until then, so can be designing and building the next batch before the manufacturing capacity is freed up to start making them.

I bet it makes next to no difference though!

It should not have got to this stage.

The FIA should have been all over this not trying to play catch up.

Imagine the protests if the Merc PU is materially faster than the rest of the field.

Wasn't there a thing just like this when they brought in the first hybrids - Merc had some kind of controversy, and then came out of the blocks in an entirely different league to everyone else - basically walked the championship for 2 years without even turning the engines up past about 7.

LeClerc fastest in the morning session

The Aston has just spat Lance Stroll into the gravel in a bizarre incident - not driver error for one with LS. Looked like the power train did something bizarre when entering the corner at speed and he was just a passenger.

Aston/Honda look in a right old mess!

Another shocking decision.

Spa one of the few tracks that encourages exciting racing. Eventually spectators will just turn off. I've gone from watching most races a season to watching only the European legs.

Vote will be taken in the next 10 days about a change to how they measure the compression ratio. They can test it at 135c. Looks like it will come in from August if I heard the commentators on the test session correctly

Feels like the pecking order at the top is probably Mercedes, McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull. Williams look like they could be best of the rest unless they’re just putting in some glory laps.

Doesn't look good like. Cadillac to finish ahead of them

Yet the drivers are talking up Red Bull
