F1 2026

Someone mentioned Ferrari being quietly at the top of the testing time charts?

. 5s fastest again this time.
Could it be?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was just him failing to adapt to the technique needed. He seems thick as mince and with the self awareness of Eni Aluko
The f1 equivalent of Lee Camp.

A total fraud, only there due to his dad.

I'm still not taking much from testing.

Lets see where we are come the chequered flag in Melbourne.

Only time in recent years testing has indicated anything substantial was in 2021, when the Red Bull was rapid (and fast enough ultimately to match Merc).

nando being uncharacteristically kind to Honda...

On the team's new Honda power unit, he added: "I think we need to give time and understand where we are and if we are behind, get better as soon as possible."

Was he not leading that race? Can't remember
Nah he was at Williams 😂 you might be thinking of Bahrain when he stood in for Hamilton at Mercedes and they suddenly had a ‘puncture’ when he was leading so that cost him the win? Leclerc crashed out from P1 in France 2022 but that’s the only recent one that comes to mind.

The comments from the drivers and TPs on these cars don’t exactly inspire confidence it’s going to be an exciting season.

I think that is completely wrong. If all the drivers were going flat out, with engines producing roughly the same amount of power then you don't get much action, see the reason DRS was introduced. If drivers are having to use and recovery energy to defend and attack there will be times when one driver has done a better job and can either pull away or get past. It maybe that one uses all their energy to defend, and someone overtakes, but uses so much energy doing so the driver they have just overtaken will be able to get back past. I couldn't give two shits if the drivers are complaining about effectively having to drive tactically.

That's not why drs was introduced.
Drs was to make up for the fact that cars couldn't follow closely anymore, due to dirty air. Which meant the slipstream effect was no longer enough to close and pass. Drs was an attempt to balance the dirty air effect.

Speaking of drs, remember everyone talking about how it was going away?
Just saw the new wing opening system. Looks exactly like drs, just even more open than before.

Yea same thing about DRS. It was introduced to create more action, you do that by giving following cars the chance to overtake. I am saying it everyone used V8 engines with roughly the same power, when you have dirty air, which is impossible to totally remove, overtaking is very difficult thus the action is pretty bad.

Most teams have just followed on the same mechanism for the rear wing as DRS. It’s more that it can be opened by everyone regardless, at more parts of the lap. So it’s more that is the change then the actual way it opens

Yeah we have got rid of DRS and instead we have active aero.

But it’s the same apart from now the front wing moves as well as the rear wing.

I’m not hopeful for better racing this season.

I hope I’m wrong but I expect more of the same.
