F1 2026

Crazy decision - so they can break the rules untill August.

It’s a strange organisation the FIA.
They haven't broken any rules

The rules are being changed to account for that very fact.

If I was Merc, or any of the other teams that realised the rules were written that way I'd be annoyed that they don't get to keep their advantage.
Ha
Feels like the pecking order at the top is probably Mercedes, McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull. Williams look like they could be best of the rest unless they’re just putting in some glory laps.
ve seen people trying to interpret the data and coming up with Ferrari (closely followed by Red Bull) as the best team.

I can’t see how Ferrari are the fastest. Based on how testing has gone so far I can imagine a lot of P8 starts for Hamilton this season.

I fully expect to see Max on pole or at least the front row in Melbourne.

Lewis will be his usual P7.

F1 is depressingly predictable these days.

Did you see those practice starts yesterday? If the Ferrari engine really is that much more driveable off the line, Lewis/Charles could be leading the race by the time they hit T1 in Melbourne!

I'm not sure how you can say things are 'depressingly predictable'. There are an enormous amount of unknowns and speculation heading into the first race, and I'd expect the order of the pack to shuffle a lot for at least he first half dozen races. Gotta be the least predictable start to an F1 season in decades.

I’m predicting the top 4 teams with be the top four teams.

McLaren, Red Bull, Mercedes, Ferrari in that order.

Also drivability off the line is indeed an advantage if you are on pole. But if you are third say for example you still have to find a way around the cars in front.

Now I don’t know how long you have been a fan of F1 but there is this annoying Belgian chap called Max and he really does not like being overtaken. It has been shown in the past that he is really rather ruthless when defending his position. He also is currently the fastest driver on the grid so I predict Max will be right up there, as usual, with the other teams behind him.

i have to say I love seeing Alonso suffer and hope with all I have that after the Newey dreaming he has the most miserable year !

He has one of the most undeserving reputations and careers in my time watching the sport and a horrible fan base

I'd go with the top six being made up of the two Ferraris, the McLarens, Max and Russell, but God knows in what order. Have got a feeling that Russell and Lewis will do well this year.

Ferrari being the clown car is fairly predictable though, given the last decade

Can't wait for his engine tantrums, but everything else looks horrible to drive and unreliable because of its packaging and design.

Quaint as Newey's hallowed pencil and drawing board might be, it turns out CAD, modelling and simulation just might be better at developing racing cars.

I hate seeing what's happening with the Aston martin team, hopefully they will get it sorted for Australian gp.

Mind I have a vested interest with the daughter working for them

Leclerc seems a lot more dialled in to this Ferrari than Hamilton does. Another session with him clear at the top.

I know you have that interest fella and I do apologise about the negative sentiment about their driver !

I wish your daughter every success in the sport !
