F1 2021

Booked 3 day tickets at Farm Curve.

Technical question - I forgot to book the park and ride whilst I was on and now can’t seem to get back onto it. Is it possible to book park and ride separate? Or am I just too early for that atm?

Cheers
It should be possible to book separately. This year we booked to park by the Aston Martin factory just over the road, £10 per day and no slower than P&R as the buses have to leave by the same route as cars, so it was handy being so close, especially as it was so hot.

I was parked the far side of the A43, about a 20 minute stroll from the main gates. Worked well for me. P1 parking, I think it was. No connection to them, just a satisfied customer. £50 for the three days, but was out pretty quick, especially cutting back on yourself towards Towcester. Was on the M1 in no time.

Just finished watching the highlights on more4......sorry if this has already been mentioned but did it not seem strangethat they didnt interview McLarens team boss after the race ?....... i know the title is all about Max & Lewis but the fact theyboth scored zero points made their race literally pointless
I did see an interview with zac and Andrea done by Simon lazenby they seemed delighted (obviously).

I was delighted too as I loved McLaren during the Senna era.

This season has been (even before the first race) all about max and Lewis and it will stay that way.

It’s a shame as there could be great stories explored right down the grid - Alonso comeback, Kimi retirement, Haas troubles, etc etc

Shame really.

yeah….i am really looking forward to the netflix series “ drive to survive?” When it airs next year….it will be fascinating

Has anyone seen any Verstappen apology about parking his Red Bull on Hamilton's head?

Given the stewards have made a clear ruling and Hamilton is seeking treatment from a specialist I thought PR alone would indicate an apology as required... and then there is the matter of the sporting nature of it all

No but Hamilton refused to apologise for Silverstone so it’s likely this will end up being a tit for tat thing now.

the schumacher one was released today...

.

there's a review on motorsport.com that contains spoilers, i only read the first few paragraphs but this schumacher film sounds interesting:

When Sebastian Vettel said recently he was looking forward to the new Michael Schumacher Netflix documentary telling him things he didn't know, it was easy to think he could be disappointed.

For, in a world where almost everything the seven-time world champion did was under the spotlight of television cameras and media, you would imagine there is not much new to learn from his life and career.

But over the near two hours of the movie, which was pulled together with the blessing of the Schumacher family, it is almost impossible not to come away from it with a feeling of changed perceptions about one of Formula 1's greatest icons.

Love him or loathe him for what he appeared to be on track, the Schumacher movie peels back a lot more on the personality and man underneath the crash helmet, offering a rare insight into what he was like when he was away from the pitlane and paddock.

In fact, the film exposes the two true sides of Schumacher's life.

It has a point. The one thing fans want is to understand his current condition. If this documentary doesn’t even acknowledge it then it isn’t likely to serve much purpose.

Good. I actually like F2 and think in many ways it’s better than F1.

Modern F1 fans won’t agree. They believe Motorsport should be about pit strategy, fuel consumption and tyres. But the traditionalist F1 fans remember a time when cars actually used to pass each other in a move called overtaking. This a lot of them did frequently. In F2 trans like Campos, Prema, Hitech GP and Trident always are attacking and going for moves. If F1 teams did the same throughout the race F1 can say is half way decent. As it is it needs reinventing. And I don’t mean yet another compound of tyre.

Artificially creating unjust sporting advantages and deltas isn’t the way to do it though. Reverse grid races are the worst thing in the world tbh, just rewards those less successful.

F1 has two main problems for me. The tracks being the first one - there are so many tracks where it’s nigh on impossible to overtake - Monaco, zandvoort, Singapore, etc., and they are taking over the calendar. F1 is much better on tracks where you can overtake and always will be, but the good tracks like Malaysia, Turkey are being phased out in favour of pointless Tilke tracks in the desert for money reasons.

The second is qualifying. If you put the cars in pace order, how can you then expect much overtaking to happen? It’s been said many times, you spend Saturday putting the cars from fastest to slowest then complain when invariably the fastest cars drive away from the slowest. There needs to be a margin of error introduced into qualifying - the drivers are too adept now at going out and nailing a lap with minimal risk. Once upon a time there used to be substantial risk of someone screwing up a qualifying lap and often we seen the top runners out in Q1 due to a lockup or whatever. Now that never happens, can’t remember the last time Lewis or max didn’t make it out of Q1 for instance without mechanical failure. Mostly because we give them too much of a chance to recover their mistakes. 18 minutes is more than enough for these guys to put in a lap and be safe. Alonso had it on the head - one shot qualifying

I bet you could make a highlights reel of at least a dozen times when Max has forced cars trying to overtake off the road, and when he has jumped into a gap and forced the other car wide.
The two single times this season someone didn't give way to him he has happily gone for contact and blamed the other driver.
He is building a reputation for this and it could cost him a title that is their for his to take, it would be a massive failure to not win the Championship with that car.

 laughable statement, though you cannot deny he is the second most successful driver after Lewis Hamilton.
But best driver is pure conjecture, though old petrol heads will often state that Jim Clarke was the best of all time (including old F1 drivers).
Who’s Jim Clarke?
John Surtees and Graham Hill were up there too

I remember when there used to be effectively a “superpole” where the top 10 drivers went out and did one lap and that was it. Can’t remember why it got binned off now.

Track evolution and other conditions changing makes it inherently unfair to have one shot qualifying tbf, but a 6 minute Q3 for instance wouldn’t

Just watching it now, upto Jerez ‘97 and its so worrying he refuses to accepts he’s capable of a mistake !

his reflections on Imola ‘94 make him seem more human than he’ll have been seen before but theres no a cloud hanging over his celebrations in Adelaide as it seems he knew what he was doing !

Decent array of people involved Hill, Richard Williams, Bernie, Weber and Webber ! Regrettably James Allen like but nevermind

but on the point of his current state and his accident it seems entirely right to hold that privacy and minimalise it as its a matter for the family and nobody else surely the fans dont need to see him struggle especially if he miles away from being the bloke he was
