Explained - Why do Sunderland fans hate Coventry City and Jimmy Hill?

So Coventry were "exonerated of all wrong doing after a hearing." No mention of the fact that Jimmy Hill was himself part of the investigation.
Cheating, whichever way you look at it. Why would they think it's OK to announce the final score in our game given the consequences in their game?

Am I right in thinking that incident is what led to the rule about all last games having to kick off at the same time (so now if one game was delayed 15 minutes they'd delay them all)? If so, that's pretty much an admission that there was wrongdoing!

I don't know, but if they announced the scores of other games while an affected game was still being played, there would be hell on. They fannied about for a whole 15 minutes that afternooon. Bristol City were complicit in the farce, but Coventry made the Tannoy announcement and Hill fixed the 'inquiry'. Double reason to smash them on Sunday;revenge is a dish served cold (and often).

Remember being at Fulham away (won 1-3 iirc) and the gantry is on one side of the ground but you need to go past the away fans to get into the ground proper.

Chris Kamara came past closely followed by Jimmy Hill - the bloke received the most abuse I’ve ever heard and mostly from the older lads! I wasn’t even sure who it was until I could see his chin digging up the pitch.
Was class wasn't he waving at us and the pigs escorted him away. If only someone had a decent aim on them

Quite a fair summary for it being a Coventry rag.

Not bad for the coventry local paper summary.

As other poster said, the inquiry was led by Hill himself!

And as for the tempo of the game dropping, it didn't mention that the goalkeeper was passing to the defender, who passed it back to the goalie, with the opposition making no effort to get the ball.

Will hate the sky blue filth until they, or I, die. Hopefully they will go first.

I think he was at both, the 1-3 game was the one where he was stood at the corner of the away end and police had to remove him as people were getting on the pitch. From where I was stood it looked like he was waving and didn’t realise he was getting abuse
That was the 0-0, they were doing some sort of presentation at half time and had him waiting by the corner flag

He might have been at the 3-1 as well as they were only 6 months apart but the 0-0 was definitely the game where he got the stick

I don’t hate them. I’m completely indifferent to them.

It was well before I was born, and they have rarely been in the same league as us during most of my life.

In interests of fairness Hill was one of the strongest voices defending us in the Mr Smith controversy and things may have been much worse for us without that input. Still a cheating tw@t obviously.

I
They’re just the second biggest team in Coventry and fourth biggest in Birmingham to me.
t could be Rochdale, gillingham or any other team in league 1. Coventry fans might have this rivalry as they have nowt else but the majority if not all safc fans couldn't give a toss
