Everton Fans Thoughts on Rodwell

Is this the same stance where you accused Villa fans of being bitter when you appointed O'Neill when they warned you of his flaws and when you accused Swindon fans of being bitter when they warned you of Di Canio's flaws?

Rodwell is a good player when fit, of that there is no doubt but don't to be so unobjectionable. Especially when it is people that have viewed him a lot that are reviewing his ability. That mistake was made with O'Neill and Di Canio in the past.
I know where you're coming from and after personally being dismissive of Villa's warnings I took heed of what Swindon had to say about Di Canio (still waited to make my own mind up too) and I'll do the same about Rodwell before getting carried away. However I've noticed before how revisionist Everton fans can be. It's not necessarily a criticism of them as they're generally loyal towards their own but don't half change stance once someone's gone. A lot will say Moyes, Fellaini and Lescott for example were never that good in the first place (in fairness they've been vindicated to an extent!) but whilst at Everton they were all the best thing since sliced bread. Hopefully the Rodwell thing is just sour grapes to an extent.

Fwiw my missus grandad has been a season ticket at Everton for god knows how many years.

He thinks Rodwell is average but his mate used to rave about him.

I think it's one of them where if we can get him fit and playing week in week out we will see the best of the lad.

"Utterly mediocre for me, crucially lacking positional sense and a footballing brain. Seemed to wander about the pitch in a daze most of the time."

Now that is a bit worrying. Gardner?

Haha to be fair all 3 of those you listed were to an extent the best thing since sliced bread, for us at that time. The fact is all 3 worked well because of Moyes and his tactics, which in turn shows how good Moyes was for us due to our consistent high placed finishes. However all were not good enough for the next step up and the flaws that were hidden to an extent with us became apparent once they left.

There's no sour grapes towards Rodwell, the lad is a blue and left under good circumstances, all Everton fans would love to see him succeed and reach what we believed to be his potential. I think Everton fans and Sunderland alike will be watching his progress keenly to see how he gets on. Hopefully he'll do well and start to find his feet and be over his injury concerns. I don't think either party would be too surprised though if this doesn't happen but happy if it does

When it comes to footballers I'm happy to go with my own judgement and I believe this lad would have been a regular for England by now without the injuries.
Potentially our best signing for a long time eg 17 years

The problem with this post is it seems your judgement also told you it would be a good idea to drink a bottle of whiskey for breakfast ;)

All that being said I genuinely believe if Rodwell was breaking through now we'd see a different player as Moyes pretty much ruined him, whereas Martinez would have nurtured him. The problem is no-one knows what he can actually do, he seems when fit and on form someone who will do the simple things, he doesn't make many tackles, doesn't really burst forward, just gets it and lays it off simple. He's athletic but doesn't have any real bite or aggression. He won't score many as he's not really the driving forward type, and he won't break up play a great deal. Add to that he's made of glass and it's a bit of an odd signing IMO.
Sounds like a gimpy version of Colback :(

A year ago they didn't rate Steven Naismith now he's flavour of the month football fans are fickle with short memories who's opinions change like the weather

 I'm just posting what an Everton forum thinks of our new player. Would you prefer we brush it under the carpet and pretend it isn't true? Grow up. It's good to get their opinions, they've seen him play more than anyone.

This is why I voted for you... ;)

He fucked them off to go to city, i bet they said the same about lescott as well, they hate rooney too its what fans do when players leave badly look at us and bent, he went from legend to he wasnt good anyway and all he did is score goals.

Rodwell was rated enough for the champions to buy him, he was rated enough to play for england at most levels including the first team all before he was 23, i have a feeling hes a canny player when fit.

I'm sure he's a fine man but let's be honest he's not going to know more than Gus about being a good midfielder is he?

Gardner wished he has half the skill rodwell possess, how many england caps has gardner got, how many times has garnder signed for a top four club?.

I was offering an opinion of someone that watched him play regularly. Didn't say he knew more than Poyet.
I know more about Poyet than your grandad so I'll trust his judgement cheers.

City signed him to meet their home-grown quota, sorry to burst your bubble that they signed him cause of his mad skillz.

Although he has the potential to be a canny player if he can stay fit, so I'll agree with you on that point.
