Digging at Stokes is pretty poor imho.
Bairstow has looked handy this series but has a top score of 57. To go with Buttler best at 25.

This game has certainly not been lost through anything other than India bowling well and getting through our defences.

Hameed and Malan have done alright since they came back. Pope was good in the 1st innings, they’re not great like but at the moment about as good as we have.
I don’t think we have better batsmen than them

It does beggar belief how the pair of them struggle so much in red ball cricket. I certainly prefer Buttler to Bairstow, but both have constantly failed to deliver with the bat.
Root is the only one who seems to be able to play the situation. You just know Bairstow & Ali are going to get out for a low score.

I think they came out after lunch and tried to change it - Hameed had different instructions, which were wrong. He should have carried on blocking his way.
But aye, then its carnage and not about strategy at all.

You are right I think but who bats 6? Pope looks good in flashes but fails more often than not. Lawrence been poor bar 1 innings. Too high for Moeen.
They’ve had enough chances. I’d prefer to give the likes of Lawrence, Pope, Livingstone, Clark or other a run at 4-6. Fine to keep one of them at 7 and keeping
