Looks like it's going to be a rain interupted first day, then a sunny weekend.

If I was picking the side I'd drop Morgan and go in with a five man attack, but I'd imagine it will be the usual.

Hopefully for Jimmy, England will bat in the tough conditions first up, can't have a cloudy sky ruining his reputation even further.

Jesus man Steaky. No need to mention Jimmy. The whole thread will descend into the usual now.

After failing to get excited about the Sri Lankan series due to cricket overload over the winter, I am well up for this Test. Was looking forward to seeing Virat Kolhi but he hasn't toured. Will be a close series, and I think it'll end up a draw.

Unavoidable mate, it's crunch time for the SMB cricket forum and one poster in particular, best two teams in the world, winner takes all. Really looking forward to this.

Looking at the forcast, it's one of those rare occasions where if you win the toss, you bowl.

I agree. It's time for Broad to step up. ;-)

As I say, really looking forward to this. Just hope we get at least 4 days worth of good play.

Been looking forward to this series, as Steaky said, it's stick or twist for a certain somebody. I think England will come out on top.

jesus wept - the lack of cricket knowledge on this board is worrying

In 6 of the last tests concerning England the side winning the toss has opted to bowl on 4 occassions

As usual with you, selective amnesia. In the six before that it's 5-1 for batting first and statisically more than 8/10 over history.

and its over recent times that England have ascended towards the top of the rankings so the present is more improtant than the past when we were floundering in the middle of the rankings

I thought that was because everyone bar India was shite? ;-)

Toss at 11.00am, Tremlett misses out.

I don't know where the Tremlett rumour came from, England XI:

Strauss
Cook
Trott
Pietersen
Bell
Morgan
Prior
Broad
Swann
Tremlett
Anderson

India:

Gambhir
Mukund
Dravid
Tendulkar
Laxman
Dhoni
Raina
Singh
Kumar
Khan
Sharma

Wouldn't have picked Broad personally but if the weather doesn't improve, he could be dangerous bowling in that difficult area between good and full of length. If he bowls his usual bang it in stuff, we may aswell only use 3 bowlers.
