Wouldn't have picked Broad personally but if the weather doesn't improve, he could be dangerous bowling in that difficult area between good and full of length. If he bowls his usual bang it in stuff, we may aswell only use 3 bowlers.

if he bowls well thoygh it will be because of a green top like when jimmy gts wickets

Athers, Nasser and Holding hammering the BCCI over DRS.

"I thought the ICC ran the game, not the Indians"
"Whatever gave you that idea Nasser?"

Fell into a bit of a trap there Strauss, caught by Sharma, hooking Khan for 22.

It was a poor shot to play (should have cut it or left it), but he would have gotten away with it had he not top edged it.

I can't see KP going along at 2 an over, so he's either not going to be in long, or this is going to get more entertaining.

I think it was a bad shot too, while Strauss is a good puller, he's never really been a good hooker of the ball so he was always taking an unneccessary risk.

If Khan keeps bowling a good line at Pietersen, I can see him becoming frustrated and trying to make something happen, whether it comes or not we shall see.

What is the difference between a hook and a pull? I've always assumed they were the same thing, and I've just done a search before making myself look like a fool on here, and everything I've found suggests that they're the same shot.

Tbh, for years I struggled to work out the difference and I'm still not completely sure now but I think it's mainly height related, most shots classed as a pull, the point of contact seems to be between waist and chest, whereas those classed as a hook shot seem to be between shoulder and above.

Just my interpretation of it.

I'm probably barking up the wrong tree completely, but it always seems to be referred to as a pull when it's into the ground and in front of square, whereas it seems to be referred to as a hook when it goes behind square.

Think a measured shot from Strauss for 4 to square leg vs a big shot for 6 from Pietersen over fine leg.

This could, however, be complete bollocks

a hook is off the back foot whereas pulls can be both

only a suggestion

That's pretty much it in my opinion as well.

A batsman is generally in control of a pull shot, the hook is generally very difficult to direct and virtually impossible to keep on the ground.
