Southgate is picking good squads so far. Whether he gets the tactics and motivation correct is something else

Maybe I am old fashioned but I honestly struggle why any England manager should have to motivate any player playing for his own country it should be a given

Given the group that England are in it hardly makes any difference who gets picked. England are assured of qualifying and will then proceed to get knocked out of the World Cup in their normal dismal fashion.

Pickford is very unlucky to be on the up at the same time as this lad. Positives are that we are sorted in this position for the foreseeable future.

Butland is the unlucky one. Not even close IMHO

A squad to beat the Scotchies. The Grimsby squad would have f***ing sufficed

Stones, Alli, Dier, Sterling and Rashford I would have in the U21 squad for the euros this summer.

Should play the best possible team we can field at these tournaments and try to instill a winning mentality in them from a young age.

A team with Pickford, Stones, Alli, Dier, Sterling, Rashford, Chambers, Loftus-Cheek, Hughes, Ward-Prowse, Redmond, Abraham etc would have more than a good chance of success IMO.
