England in NZ

I understand the need to defend and see out the day, but couldn't we at least have a semblance of keeping the score ticking over? Having them getting more and more concerned as the day wore on, as 1 or 2 an over became 3 or 4, would take at least some of the pressure off.
This parking the bus attitude just invites more pressure and increases a mentality of complete negative failure

Terrible from Root that mind.

For all those hammering Leach, yes he was pretty poor here but before this test he averaged 26 with the ball which is a cracking start. NZ is hardly a spinners haven, happy to give him a bit of leeway.

What else are we supposed to do? It's not like Headingley where we had a sliver of a chance. We're an innings behind here

43 runs added in 31.2 overs for the loss of Root.Pitch starting to misbehave but still reckon England will rescue this.

Pretty much game over, Pope's dismissal probably the worst.
Root has been disappointing, be feeling the pressure now.

Off we go again
What happened

Full toss about a yard off stump, he stretched and hit it straight to Southee I think.
Didn't take long
Whoohoo. draw on!
Only a matter of time for Archer playing like that, still a better account than most of the so-called batsmen in the team.
