No it isn’t. Yes, there is a risk and reward which has to be accepted. But. Smith trying to take on four fielders on the leg side to anything short it brain dead. Can’t believe some of the comments on here about the Smith and Brook dismissals. The only reason we are nearing parity is because of this hyper aggressive approach to batting.
If we batted like some on here seen to want us to we would probably have 100 less runs.
I just don’t get it.

25-0 doesn’t move you from massive favourites to odds againstI was looking at the Draw no bet market, I cannot see this being a draw.
Plus, we’re about 25-0 since I made that comment and therefore the odds have changed.
But they weren't massively favourite marginalThey weren’t when the wicket fell. Like I said above, we’ve added about 25 runs since Brook was dismissed.
But there was a comment on the thread when Smith was dismissed saying getting to 75 behind would be a result, yet here we are, less than an hour later and we’re only 50 behind. They’re given the licence to have a real go and that’s why what we all thought was a losing position on day 1 has been turned into anything but. That's ok when they are taking on balls around middle or off stump. But they're trying to pull the balls which are 1 to 2 feet outside off
If India fielded better and not overstepped last night, Brook would have long been gone. Ultimately cricket is a game of fine margins and you have to take advantage of what goes in your favour. Brook mainly managed to and has just timed that pull wrong. But we seem incapable of not taking the pull shot on when the field is set to it, and it often leads to our downfall. Something that needs a little work on imoI think there’s always frustration when you gift your wicket away, irrespective of how well or how aggressive you’re playing.
It’s rough with the smooth stuff, but I get both argument. On the face of it though, our entire middle order (I’m calling that 3-7) got themselves out.
Saw that of Facebook this morning. Turns out it was a bad omen. Etched in the memory that one. This was the one I always remember

Doubt it we don't have much left after thisWoakes looks well up for this. Can see us getting a decent lead with a little bit of luck.
The ones that get out you don’t like the ones that go for 4 and 6 are ok.Measured aggression is great. Positivity is great. Seeing a trap being set and falling for it so easily isn’t. These brainless shots that prey on vanity have to be reeled in. We have to learn very, very quickly. It’s just using your brain and not throwing away your hard-fought gains.
I understand the point you’re making but disagree completely. Being this aggressive means that sometimes you are going to playing at a lot of balls the more traditional player would leave. But it puts enormous pressure on the bowlers who don’t know what to expect - look at what Brook just did to Siraj. I think there are real benefits in doing the things that are annoying so many on here.Measured aggression is great. Positivity is great. Seeing a trap being set and falling for it so easily isn’t. That’s where we need the luck element.Doubt it we don't have much left after this
To be fair the main reason we won't win the ashes is due to our bowling attack not being up to scratchThree comments in succession in BBC comments highlighting the shortcomings of Bazball.
The Brook wicket shows why England won't win the Ashes. Silly shots at pivotal moments by too many players. Brainless!

This is why Brook won’t emulate Root unless he tweaks his approach. So much ability and naturally free flowing but, just reign it in a little lad!
Anthony
England, all or nothing approach, can infuriate as much as it entertains. Needed Brook to be the last man standing.
