Emilio Gay

I think the criticism of Gay is over stated. He did score runs!

You might criticise but is he really the one who is the most notable problem player?

He is the top scorer for the season.

Looking at season averages I'd say the one we ought to have got more from is Robinson.

Then there's De Leede of course, who's a waste of space for Durham.

He ended up top of the run list and the average list. He defs cashed in on Kookaburra and flat pitch games.

Him and Lees having 9 ducks between them though is obviously concerning too.

The problem with our batting this season was at the doors of Robinson, Ackermann, Bedingham, Rhodes and McKinney. There was absolutely no consistency from any of them.

Looking at those batting stats our middle order engine room was an even bigger disaster than I thought. Ackerman Robinson Rhodes Mckinney and Bedingham all had miserable seasons. Possibly though the most alarming is Potts who is taking his wickets at just under 45. Added to that we got very little out of our overseas then we areactually lucky to take the relaxation decider to the last day of the season. Probably suggest its not a particularly strong division this year.
I think probably only Raine can be happy with his performances in the championship over the 14 matches.
Another concern is that its actually quite an old team over all.

He’s probably going to earn more money playing for them than he has for us all season. That’s why it’s important to have local lads playing for you, passion and pride plays a huge factor in performance. Take Graham Clark for example…

He's 25 and our top scorer this season. One of a tiny handful of players I don't blame whatsoever.

Ironically people aren't happy with Gay ;)

Retired hurt opening in the Lions game this morning after making 56.

Hope it's nothing serious.

This is the game that the first teamers bailed out of.
