Booked to get mine done at Specsavers at Sainsbury’s. They charge £50 iirc for micro suction. I put Ortex in my ears for a few days before to soften the wax. The lad cleared out the outer ear wax but said he wouldn’t touch the wax that was on the actual ear drum and said to use Earsol (olive oil based) rather than Ortex in future as it discolours the wax to a more skin-like colour, making it harder to see for anyone cleaning them out. They didn’t charge for what little he removed.Any one had this done in the North East?
I’m convinced my reduced hearing is down to this.
Otex is actually a peroxide based solution, that, rather than softening ear wax it tries to dissolve it. Hence the crackling in your lughole when you administer it. it then dries and lets nature take it's course on the dispersal of the flakes.Booked to get mine done at Specsavers at Sainsbury’s. I’ve had surgery on my left ear and they wouldn’t touch that which is understandable.
I went my GP for some help. They could only refer me to ENT but suggested I could get a home/DIY ear syringing kit for the wax that was really stuck on.
I went for this kit and did it myself:
Ear Wax Remover, 20-in-1 Ear Cleaner Kit with Olive Oil Ear Drops for Blocked Ears, Easy Safe & Effective Ear Wax Removal Kit with Ear Syringe Bulb, Ear Irrigation Kit, by EarClear https://amzn.eu/d/8zLBRbF
It was a bit fiddly but the amount of shite that came out of my ear was staggering. My hearing was like night and day afterwards. Gave the other side a go and got a load out of there too. If you go for it, just be careful not to squirt too hard or you can give yourself a perforated ear drum. Start slowly and build up from there.

Been telling people about this for years on here, they don't listen (excuse the pun) so I don't bother any more.hydrogen peroxide from the chemist costs a quid
Missus has had it done twice...best £60 she's ever spent. Seeing the before and after on the monitor is impressive. You can pay for it to be done somit like 60 bar
You f**ked that good and proper...it's suctionCanny bit of pressure that like. Would send it shooting out the other ear
Any fish?Couple of left over maggots from fishing.
5 in each ear - sorted.
And tilt your head towards your ragu afterwards?Surgery nurse syringed mine - had to sign a consent form in case it buggered my hearing.
Also advised to use olive oil drops regularly to prevent it happening again.
Try for a referral to ENT. Ears are generally self-cleaning and wax shouldn't build up to the extent it has with you. Be careful with self-treating, as others have said, the eardrum is very delicate.
Tinnitus isn't a disease in itself, but a symptom caused by something else. It is worth having it investigated because if there is a cause, it can often be rectified. The days of the medical profession being able to shrug their shoulders and say that they don't know what causes it are long gone. My Dad had it and it was caused by a strained neck muscle/TMJ issue. This was treated and the tinnitus was gone.
Apparently tinnitus is linked with diabetes, Are you a fat bassa ? If not go to the docs & get some spray, The one i got was called ' otomize ear spray', cleared up within 4 days.
I thought tinnitus was caused by a middle ear problem where minute fibres vibrate when they shouldn't and cause the sound. I also thought there was no cure.
I never said all cases could be treated. When I said 'The days of the medical profession being able to shrug their shoulders and say that they don't know what causes it are long gone', I meant that historically GPs often did this. Now they are able to refer to specialists who may be able to help. I illustrated with an example and nowhere did I attempt to 'glibly dismiss' anything. There are many causes for tinnitus and many of them CAN’T be rectified at all. And the days of medical professionals saying they don’t know what’s causing it are NOT gone at all. Because sometimes it’s permanent, and sometimes the cause is damage, the origin of which is impossible to identify. Please don’t glibly dismiss that with an example of one experience.

I found the tone of your replies to be somewhat disrespectful to people who took the time to post.
