A reminder that we set Warwickshire 339 in our first home game last season and they chase it down. Knowing Durham, the same will probably happen tomorrow

I would never give Kent any chasable total, as our recent record in these situations results in defeat as happened last season or we get 6 or 7 out and then get stuck. Today has been very annoying and taken away a massive part of our obvious advantage. We might have to take the 13 and move on.On the positive side, we have a lead of 220, and if by some stretch of the imagination we get a full days play tomorrow, we pile on 80 - 100 on the first hour or so, I have not seen anything from their batters where they could survive 2 full sessions

Unfortunately, our head coach doesn't appear to learn from past misjudgements.I would never give Kent any chasable total, as our recent record in these situations results in defeat as happened last season or we get 6 or 7 out and then get stuck. Amen to all that brotherWell I was all set at 9.45am to head down but thankfully looked at my phone before heading down, so petrol money well saved.
What I will say is, the club only have themselves to blame with this. The ground is an absolute tip and has been for years. Had a walk round on Friday and didn't really notice much in the way of improvements, it just looked like a building site and as mentioned, that new scaffolding in front of the Multi Faith Room (does anyone actually use that?), looked utterly depressing, unsafe and tin pot... not real shock to see it blown down. The trapdoor stand looks embarrassing as does the blue seat stand behind the wicket which is currently stripped down, again it just looks shit. A lot of neglect in the ground, little things such as radiators in the Don Robson bogs, could be painted or even better replaced at a very small price and it would just bring the place up a bit. The toilets could also do with a massive spring clean and bleach.
As for the covers, lets be honest those covers are NEPL standard at best, for an international ground, we should have better and again we've been using the same stuff for years.
Whilst nothing can be done about the weather, it just highlights the poor infrastructure at the club and the neglect off the field many of us have highlighted for years time and time again on here. It's just little things you notice that continue to build up and it begs the question what do people actually do at the club during the winter?
As for the game itself, I can't comment on how damp the wicket is so I'll not have a go at the umpires about calling it off as I don't know enough about the wicket, but I did have to laugh when they said the cold wind won't dry the pitch out. I'm in Wheatley Hill and it hasn't rained since the very early hours and it was very dry 10am when I went for a walk and I've been out again an hour or so ago and it's dry.
I think it's long overdue that the club started to show some pride in the ground, for years now we've seen far too much neglect and for me that is completely unacceptable.
Well said. I think it’s about time that we start to challenge those higher up about the ground and wider infrastructureWell I was all set at 9.45am to head down but thankfully looked at my phone before heading down, so petrol money well saved.

I'd get that printed on a t-shirt but the writing would be too small to read.Well I was all set at 9.45am to head down but thankfully looked at my phone before heading down, so petrol money well saved.

Spot on .... after the big you tube videos in Feb 2024 I've literally had to corner club officials to ask them personally what the heck was happening with the proposed hotel... amazingly declined by the Council powers that be ... due to potential flooding .... farcical given the long standing location of the groundsmans bungalow, has this even been queried or challenged .... and will we ever be given info on this from the club as we've had nowt in 2 years ... the seats constantly missing from the trapdoor stand, the Collingwood stand upper seats never ever opened to members once in all its years ... temporary scaffolding, the stairway beside the old scoreboard always shut. A really great ground is heading backwards year on year and as stated has been neglected.Well I was all set at 9.45am to head down but thankfully looked at my phone before heading down, so petrol money well saved.

There was a report on the flooding issue a month or so ago. We shouldn't have to monitor the planning portal. There is a summary on page 39 of the top document. Maybe someone could interpret it?Spot on .... after the big you tube videos in Feb 2024 I've literally had to corner club officials to ask them personally what the heck was happening with the proposed hotel... amazingly declined by the Council powers that be ... due to potential flooding .... farcical given the long standing location of the groundsmans bungalow, has this even been queried or challenged .... and will we ever be given info on this from the club as we've had nowt in 2 years ...
As for this game it seems incredible how we lost a full days play with virtually no rain at all.
There's a difference in the bowling this year and in the pitch. We couldn't take wickets for love nor money, I think this year is going to be different. Hoping!!A reminder that we set Warwickshire 339 in our first home game last season and they chase it down. Knowing Durham, the same will probably happen tomorrow![]()
Agree. But how the fuck is the wicket wet? Did nobody cover it, give it was common knowledge Storm Dave would be heading over, overnight?Well I was all set at 9.45am to head down but thankfully looked at my phone before heading down, so petrol money well saved.

Covers were blown off the pitch by the storm. Supposedly one ending up partly in the stand.Agree. But how the fuck is the wicket wet? Did nobody cover it, give it was common knowledge Storm Dave would be heading over, overnight?
Only the Met Office called it Storm Dave. Its real name was Storm Rodney.Agree. But how the fuck is the wicket wet? Did nobody cover it, give it was common knowledge Storm Dave would be heading over, overnight?
