Durham v Kent (h) C.C. ( 3/4/26)

I wouldn’t be so sure, listen to the latest Stick to Cricket podcast - plenty times when they’ll just get on with it despite the pitch being damp.

Inspection was due 8 minutes ago, have they bothered?
I mean do you have any idea how damp the pitch is? All well and good saying get on with it when for all we know the pitch is still soaking wet.

Any word on the inspection. They must have had a good look by now.

20 minutes and still nothing. Umpires like these two are what’s killing county cricket.

We have international standard drainage, it hasn’t rained in 8 hours, it’s been blowing a gale al day.

I’m fairly confident it will be playable.

Wonder if it was the new caterers put pressure on to have the ground opened as they would have thousands of pounds of food that would have gone to waste

Yes,but we don't have international standards on ground maintenance. The club should have methods to make both covers and sight screens more secure to cope with strong winds.
1st game of the season and at close of play yesterday we were probably in the strongest position to win of any team in the division. Now we're behind 3 other promotion contenders. Nothing forthcoming from either Bostock or North on this fiasco.Indicates how committed they really are.

Might aswell tell them not to bother tomorrow, absolutely zero chance of a result thanks to the clowns in white coats.

On the positive side, we have a lead of 220, and if by some stretch of the imagination we get a full days play tomorrow, we pile on 80 - 100 on the first hour or so, I have not seen anything from their batters where they could survive 2 full sessions

Or get skittled in that hour going full kamikaze setting them 300-320 in 75 overs.Kent have some decent batters.
