Durham v Glamorgan (h) C.C.

Heavans above if Glamorgan can bat all day, we are either bowling underarm or they are using a flattened mattress for a pitch. Either way it doesn't sound like its the kind of cricket this going to get the crowds flooding back

So no praise whatsoever for Durham’s bowlers for dismissing them for sub-100 and the batsmen who then went on to make 500?

At the end of the day, they’re all paid professionals. Many will be playing for their futures and there’s a thing called professional/personal pride. Wrong frame of mind and poor form is more likely. To say they just weren’t arsed is difficult to believe.

With regards to Glammy's attitude, entirely your opinion, but I can only comment on what I witnessed on Sunday and had passed on to me yesterday.

It just wasn't competitive and looking at other scores this week, it all just smacks of "half arsed" because of the stupid format.

Had the chance to go today and down to Northants, but it's all just pointless and a waste of annual leave.

Or perhaps that’s what happens when you start at 10:30 on a September morning 🤷‍♂️

Assuming you’re referring to the three sub-100 scores.

However if you look, a number of games have seen a cluster of wickets on Day 1 followed by a flattening out of the pitch. Which certainly suggests my theory is more likely ;)

Durham, Leicester, Kent, Notts and Middlesex didn't have any issues.....

I can't blame clubs for being half arsed, Sunday just wasn't competitive and that was the general feeling at the ground on Sunday.

Each to their own though, it's good that Durham will win this game, but I can't get excited about it

What's garn on? Been working for 2 and a half hours and checked the stream and the same bloody batsmen are still in.

We didn’t start batting at 10:30 on Day 1. Nor did Kent. Nor did I ever suggest it was absolute.

Anyway, Glamorgan did a canny job considering how ‘not arsed’ they were today.
Good to see a couple of them dig in unlike Sunday where they were an absolute embarrassment. You referred to wickets on day one.... Not all teams had issues. Lack of competitiveness was a concern and I think that's half the reason last week was called off... It was a nothing game

I referred to wickets on Day 1 owing to a 10:30 start. Three teams batting first on Day 1 were rolled for under 100, one for 133.

Plenty of competitiveness at Edgbaston, both teams fighting for the Championship - 21 wickets fell on Day 1, 10 of them before Lunch.

Don’t be intentionally obtuse Gordon, you know full well how the red ball works and how likely it is that it’ll do a bit more between 10:30 and midday on Day 1 when it’s new as opposed to between the hours of 14:00 and 16:00 for example when it’s 40 odd overs or more old.

Glamorgan might’ve been in the wrong mindset, but momentum is a difficult thing to stop/turn round in cricket. They started alright, then a clatter of wickets began and before they knew it they were bowling. They had a fairly bad time of it in their last game too - which suggests to me it’s more likely they’re lacking confidence than effort or interest.
