Durham’s T20 Campaign

Thank god that's finished.
I can't think of one player who has in the slightest enhanced their reputation as a T20 player and most have taken a big step backwards. Possible exceptions are Ben Raine who probably fulfilled his role as a steady county all rounder and AJ Tye who stopped his holiday bought a pair of bowling boots and looked comfortably our best bowler.

As far as the coach goes I'm not as anti Franklin as some but when you look at what Mickey Arthur has achieved influencing Derbyshire then Franklin is coming up as short as our team which is full of very experienced cricketers.

I don't think I could take one positive out of the whole competition.
We've got a team of very experienced cricketers who are vastly underachieving. The coach's purpose is to get the most of the talent that's available.

I answered that a year ago when I asked for him to be sacked. My answer would be Alan Walker and Gidman, nothing has changed my mind on that yet. Very much doubt Collingwood would fancy it, but I'd not say no. Alternatively go and poach Nixon from Leicestershire
Nixon who's team 6 th in T20 group and worse than Durham and winless in 4 day cricket

Are they underachieving or actually not as good as what we think they are. I'm certainly not sure it's all down to the coach. But as I said you have to look at what Mickey Arthur has achieved at Derbyshire and Durham under Franklin are not at the races in comparison.

It's both. Commit younger players, stop making daft reshuffles to batting orders and please for the love of god start learning to counter spin

Yes, Walker has been with Durham throughout our 1st class history-he knows but Durham is all about. Additionally what we do need is a specialist T20- we've never had a clue how to play this format.

Agree, North also has to take some responsibility. Presumably he has the major say particularly in overseas appointents. We certainly have wasted money in that area throughout his time.

& The one who won the Carribbean T20 twice in three years which you probably didn't know and who did very well in the recent BPL.... Clearly shows he's very well thought of if he's been in a job for 5 year at Leicester as a coach and gets picked up abroad and is successful. He's very well thought of within the county circuit and the game in general. (Ironically we couldn't beat them in the red ball game and they hammered us at home two weeks ago). A very experienced and successful coach and player who has played at top levels with the very best. I'd have him at Durham no problem.

Just read that Chanderpaul is the new USA women's coach.

Well you openly don't care about 20 over cricket and 4 day is worse than our current coach who you hate

Maybe I would care if we had a competent coach? It's where the £££ is and if we were half decent at it those 4000 crowds would soon become 6000-7000 on a regular basis. Had it not been for their point deduction they would have qualified. He's a good coach but I'd be more than happy with Walker and Gidman as I've said for almost a year now in wanting Franklin removed
