Donald has tweeted about the takeover

Because things might actually be done mate, there may be a hold up on confirming the deal for whatever reason. For all we know a key legal eagle or someone acting on behalf of one of the parties could be on holiday, these things are never simple. Donald seems confident, evidently he can't say too much.
Exactly gip spot on mate ,im still on the side of reiv and gom who i think have passed info in good faith and will back them till proved otherwise.FWIW i said this morning on here i believe the legals are done just small threads before announcement.

Not read the thread, but for a guess it people fighting either Rivs corner or defending it.

Ffs, which part of posting in good faith do people struggle with or is RTG now a place where fact has to proven to the absolute?
It's also a place where opinion or speculation miraculously transform into fact.
Let's set a few things straight here. The only things I have claimed as fact were the identity of the firm doing the due diligence and when it was scheduled to complete, both of which were told me by someone with first hand knowledge. Everything else has been my view of where things might be, and passing on things Reiver asked me to.
If people aren't capable of distinguishing fact and opinion, they have the problem, not me. End of discussion.

What I took from Reiver's posts was that we were being taken over by people connected with Dell, sooner rather than later.
Everything else was a bit of fun.
Apart from the miserable sods who hated the idea that somebody might have positive information.
Oh and some of the infantile mudslinging.

A few points to add to bring some balance to this:

- Reiver posted information he received in good faith. Things can change, that's life, that's not to say Reiver's info was wrong at the time. He's never struck me as a WUM;

- There are posters on here who know Reiver personally, they've vouched for him, which would lead you to think he wasn't telling lies, why would he?

- Overall I found the thread entertaining, whether right or wrong, it was exciting to get regular updates. Let's hope everything's positive, they're ironing out the finer details and it will all be successfully concluded within the next two weeks.

Ha'way the lads!
I agree with bits of this
I don’t see how things can change from being absolutely done weeks ago to not being close to being done weeks later.

Reiver is and embellisher and exaggerator and I have given examples of where he has done this in past. Whatever info he was given (if he was given any at all) I’d wager he had spun it to make it sound far more enterprising than it really was.

I’d have been excited had I believed their to be any truth in his ramblings but I just found all the creeping and crawling round him asking for PMs etc to be really cringey tbh. I’m pretty sure one or two will look back a little embarrassed by it now.
And also bits of this!

However, Reiver is a great character and adds to this board massively. Shame he's gone and hope he comes back!

How anyone could think at multi million pound deals that people who know stuff (lawyers/those involved) would talk to other people about what is happening, who then would talk to other people to post on mssge boards beggers belief!

I do bits of union stuff, and I wouldn't tell my mam or dad or wife, and it's about a billionth as important as buying a footy club!

2 things I can say for sure which are undeniable.

1. Reiver did not break news of this potential takeover - it was Evs-Dubai (sic) on twitter and his post was subsequently posted on here.
2. If/once the transfer is complete - this does not confirm that reivers info was correct (see point 1) which bizarrely is something I keep seeing claimed on here.

Whether he receives and embellishes info or completely makes it up is anyone’s guess.

it breaches confidentiality and is massively unprofessional. this is their line of work and it'll be a normal day and nothing to gossip about.
page 114 from over there

"When I was on the Takeover thread is was absolutely buzzing and loads said it was a lot of fun despite not believing a word of what anyone was saying. Lots of the contrIbutions were hilarious and people had a great time. I posted facts, some of which were proved correct, but also 'embellished' things and tried to keep the optimistic mood going .... guilty as charged."

says it all

But if it was all "look at me" nonsense. That's pathetic. I said at the time. The lad started a new thread about an already existing issue. i.e. the takeover. Now he's banned? f***ing right if so but, was it just attention seeking? I'm sure some on here know him.

Give it a rest man you boring get. He has posted what he has been told in good faith. Stop acting the ****

The due diligence process can change the best of plans.
I once saw an otherwise agreed acquisition of a company collapse because of an argument over who owned the private number plates.

SD does well to manage expectations or he could end up with egg on his face.

Yeah I keep reading that people know him, mainly posted by him, not sure who actually know him tho?? I’m hoping atleast some of the stuff he’s said is true such as plans for the surrounding area etc, and it wouldn’t be too far a leap to make to think that.

Tbf lots of posters have said they know him, have met him or he’s helped them with tickets.

Correct.

Your insights into the financial side of football and SAFC are always welcome and I'm sure they are a valuable resource for those of us who don't know our P&L's from our balance sheets. I've not seen anything of yours that wasn't sensible and informative.

The problem is that a number of members must just skim read threads because inaccurate assertions or simply duff info can become accepted wisdom on here in a couple of pages.

And therein lies the danger of providing a conduit for other members opinions, banned or otherwise - if the stuff turns out to be bollocks then inevitably you will be tarred with the same brush.

I know him reasonably well. He may well overdo it, but he wouldn't outright lie over something as important as this. He's a MLF who's been goinr to matches for well over forty years.
Yep Ive said from the start I’ve never met him but he’s posted long enough and I’ve read his posts long enough to reach the conclusion he wouldn’t give Sunderland fans false information for shits and giggles.
