Don Goodman


My mind was made up about Goodman being biased against us on the 2nd penalty at Burnley. Whatever your thoughts in real time, the replay showed it was a clear penalty but he still insisted it wasn’t

The timing of his signing was a bit strange. He signed in 1992 but was cup tied. We were very poor that season bar the FA Cup were we reached the final.

He was our best striker (in the league) but John Byrne scored in every round of the cup until he missed a very good chance early on in the final. So Don was on the perifiry really, playing in meaniless league games but missing the big cup games. Peter Davenport played in the cup but he was largely finished.

The thing I remember most about Don was his unusual running style. He kind of ducked down low before busting forward in the odd low crouch but he could definitely shift. He scored more than a goal every 3 games so he was a decent signing but he wasn't anywhere near as exciting as Marco who he had replaced.

Remember him very well for the Wolves down our way and very briefly in 93/94 and 94/95 for you after we came up from the third division under Lou.

Remeber a very sunny afternoon early doors (September time) when you beat us 1 nil. Think Brian Atkinson scored or Phil Gray (as he always did back then).

Really-he makes one wrong( I agree with you on that) call and he’s biased and you have no time for him🤔

Marra, there doesn't have to be logic for not liking someone.

I don't like him simply because he came in after Marco. Not his fault, but he wasn't Marco, and I didn't like it.

You must dislike some people that you can't explain why???

I find there’s usually a reason to be honest.At least you sound like a Marco fan 👍
