Disposable vapes to be banned

I used a vape to stop smoking over 4 years ago and it worked great, the disposable ones a shite anyway, you’ll still be able to buy them on the sly anyway

How? These disposable vapes are being banned, made illegal to buy by adults, because SOME children are using them (as they have cigs for decades) and the Government are 'worried' about the health effects of them, even though it is already illegal for under 18s to buy them? Are they not worried about kids drinking booze, gambling etc. all illegal for for under18s too? It's empty gesture politics curbing the majority of the population of choice because a small % of children are using them. Why weren't cigs, booze, gambling and any other myriad of things banned that kids get, despite them being illegal?
But vaping isn't being banned is it.. just disposable vapes..

It's more about the amount going to landfill. Easier for the Tories to sell it as sticking it to the youth.
so its a blight because of littering? give over man
5 million sold a week, that's a lot of single use plastic and lithium ion batteries going to landfill.

It won't, we've been trying to stop kids drinking alcohol for god knows how many years..
I agree prohibition doesn't work but doesn't mean certain things cant be restricted or controlled. These disposable are being targeted because they are clearly trying to appeal to kids, certain colours flavours etc its the vape companies own doing.

I’m sure I heard he’s going to ban all tobacco sales to anyone born after 2009, surely that means everyone under 16. Isn’t that already illegal?

I can totally understand using them for that.

There’s people at our place who vape who’ve never even smoked, frigging batshit.

I also can understand why anyone would want to inhale “cheesecake” and “watermelon” flavoured steam.

The proposal would mean they could never buy them. They could be stood outside a shop at 60 asking pensioners to go in for them

It's an alternative to smoking, if they like it then it's their business.
I also [can't] understand why anyone would want to inhale “cheesecake” and “watermelon” flavoured steam.
Because they like the taste. It's not really hard to comprehend.

I think monster is rank and coffee is great, different people like different things

So there’s people at our place about 30 who’ve never smoked have suddenly decided “ah I know I’ll try this new alternative to smoking, that’s not been round long enough for any decent side effects to be known”.

That is bizarre to me and pretty hard to comprehend.

I won’t smoke because it’s bad for me but I’ll try vaping that’s going to be totally fine.

I get it their choice and logic, just bizarre to me.

Step in the right direction, next make it prescription only like in Oz. Amount of kids I see vaping is scary, fuck knows what it’s doing to their long term health.
This is simply not true. I was in Sydney December last year and you can buy them from any shop out there usually higher nicotine content too.

When I was a teenager loads smoked. Vaping is shite but less shite than tabs.

Perhaps a minority use them that way, majority seen in public puffing away on them in public places being completely inconsiderate to others around them. Normally chav or gothy types, aye its embarrassing. Never see anyone well kept, respectable etc with a vape do you?
Depends where you live, work and socialise I’d imagine.
Big tobacco at play here, also government losing too much tax revenue. Won't be long until they start slapping huge taxes on vape sales.
Knowing this govt, there’s probably an element of truth here. Tobacco lobbyists are powerful.

It's up to people if they want to smoke or vape. It's also up to me if I want to call people out if I'm breathing in their passive smoke or vape.

How much are disposable vapes? Tabs are about 12 quid a box of twenty for comparison. Can't imagine many younguns could afford to start smoking nowadays.

Makes sense as the amount of children using them is worrying.

I also disagree with the marketing. Shops can't have crisps or chocolate round the tills etc., to cut down on impulse purchasing which can lead to obesity. Don't understand why bonny coloured vapes are allowed to be impulse purchase spaces. I know a couple of adults who have never smoked but have taken up vaping.
Yes, I know a lad who's never smoked, yet he seems to vape non stop.

Few quid and a disposable one is about the same nicotine as a box of 20 fags. If the bairn smoked 20 cigs and came home, I'd know about it as she'd be stinking! Vapes are easier to hide from parents as you don't come home stinking or with side effects like if you come home stumbling about or throwing up because of booze or drugs.

The bairn mentioned how many disposable ones there are on top of bus stops. When she's on a double decker, she said every bus stop has loads chucked on top.

They cost a few quid? Wey that's the main reason they are so popular then. No way would most kids stump up for a box of tabs as a replacement to vaping.

You seem them everywhere littering the place up like.

Yeah they should be taxed / tarriffs on imports to make them £25.

And a five year prison term for possession once banned
