Disney world Florida

We had cheer leaders on our flight out, loads of them - 3 sat infront of the wife & girls. They didn't nowt but bounce around the place for 9 hours, the missus was fuming.
Of course there were only a few adults to 20-odd kids, so nobody really kept an eye on them.

I did have to tell them to stop jumping on the chairs at one point when the kids were trying to eat.

Apparently the "finals" were just starting as we left last Thursday, so you'll have them all now.

Which hotel out of interest? We were at the Drury at LBV. Previously been at the Wynham a fair few times which was great for Disney Springs, literally on the doorstep.
Drury would have been brilliant if they hadn't knocked everything down at the Crossroads - such a shame they did that, although looks like they're finally building something there after all - new roads apparently. Maybe even a train line from MCO to Springs, I know its been talked about.
Rosen just up the road. They’re out staple hotel when in Orlando. Either on I drive before kids now LBV we’ve kids.

Yeah it’s the finals. They’re a nightnare though not as bad as the graduation lot you get around this time in universal.

Still can't quite decide how I'd rather travel day to day. $30 a day to park at the parks is just scandalous, expecially when you still need to get the monorail for MK.
Ubers were about $20 each way, so that's no better unless you want to have some drinks in the parks.

We didn't realise the Drury doesn't share the bus with the other hotels on the street - it runs its own bus. So that was better than we expected as the other bus made 4 hotel stops across its route, so you'd likely get 2 per trip (some before you, some after). And the Drury bus seemed to be just about as frequent.
But still there was that one time when there was a odd 2 hour gap and it was just when you wanted to go home. Or the night we came back from Epcot, the last bus was 90 mins after park close, and the 2nd last bus was during the show. So not only did we have an entire hour to kill doing literally nowt, but also the bus was mega-packed. Just when uber prices rocket too, so thats about $50!

Overall, I think Uber might just take the lead - our hire car and insurance was about $600 too (needed a big thing). That's 25 journeys alone I suppose.

All that said, I don't think we'll go back any time soon. Its stupidly expensive, I think our trip cost about £14,000 all in, maybe more. And I came back totally knackered. Really yearning for a 4/5* AI Resort, with 4-5 nice places to eat and a pool to sit by while the kids go to their own for 3 hours a day, then play with their new friends in the pool while I drink a nice cocktail.
Probably won't be much cheaper, mind!

And if they want disney, we can nip to Paris for a weekend.

It's mental how much it has gone up recently. I looked at my booking confirmation from 2018 and it was £4700 to stay on-site (CBR) including park tickets and full Disney dining package (the one including character dining etc). Flight's were under £2k for the 5 of us too.

I went again in 2020 and if I remember right it came in at about £10k for 4 weeks including flights and hire car.

Priced up next year (curiously as not going) and it's pretty much twice as much for the same thing.

It just went mad. Exactly.

I don't think it offers value anymore. I think I'm probably done with Dinseyworld. The kids are getting older and there's no way I would pay the entry price for just us when they're adults.

I would definitely have a holiday in Florida again though.

Florida is class man. Weather this time of year is perfect.
Don’t care about the parks like but since the bairn came along we’ve taken her a few times. It’s a 90 minute drive so sometimes we go for the day. Staying over a few days in a couple of weeks for the bairn’s belated birthday treat.

Yeah, agreed. That's why I would go to Florida again. If they ever decided not to be politically nuts I might move there. Is the £ hits $2 again houses would be cheap. 😂

Weren't you living over here, or am I confusing you with someone else?

Nah I grew up in Sunderland. Houston since 1990, Tampa since 2013.
I remember you as one of the lads who saves up and spends $$$ on coming over here which I find bemusing as I’m just not into the parks much but no judgement - each to their own and of course younguns are gonna love them. We have Busch Gardens 30 minutes from us and that’s OK. My favourite of the lot was Discovery Cove. They limit the number of people allowed in each day so it’s a lot more calm than the rat race of Magic Kingdom etc.

I like the beaches me so I think it’s madness that Brits charge over here and spend days and days sweating in queues at the parks and don’t even bother coming over to the beaches. We got married on Clearwater Beach which is usually voted by Tripadvisor as the best beach in the country. 90 minutes from Disney!
BTW forgot to add that while I sorta understand people not wanting to come to America because Trump is an arsehole or not wanting to come to Florida cos DeSantis is an arsehole - everyone has the right to spend their money wherever they want but having arseholes in charge wouldn’t put me off wanting to visit somewhere if I liked the place. I’ve been to Mexico countless times completely oblivious to who was president or what the status of the drug cartels was. Those boycotting America - have you been to Hungary ever? China? India? They’ve all had some real arseholes in charge, just maybe not as big or as loud an arsehole as Trump or DeSantis.

Aye we love the place mate. We've found the states cheaper than Europe the last few years so done Florida, New York and the West Coast in previous years with the family. This year we're doing Tennessee and Alabama, loads cheaper than going to Europe and the Air BnBs we stay in are amazing.
We've done Disney and Universal in previous years and liked it but not in a rush to go back. My kids are 12 and 14 and prefer the six flags parks so trying to work out way through them.
Then me and the lads have a week in Orlando every year for golf, again people are surprised but it's cheaper to go there for a week staying in a 12 bedroom villa than it is to go to Portugal or Turkey.

I know what you mean. They are a giant rip off, but kids are only young once and I was lucky enough to be able to afford it. I don't think I'll be back to Disney.

Good point. I would definitely visit. It's moving there that it has put me off doing.
