Depression thread continued...

A ceremony? I don't want to get married. I'm depressed enough man

(apologies to Mrs FC of course)

Well, your profile picture puts a smile on my face.

Yeah, it is done in a ceremonial setting. In fact, it can only be done and is only really available in a ceremonial setting. The shaman needs to play the icaros("magic songs") that activate the medicine and heal. These songs are leaned from the tribes in the Amazon. My Shaman goes there once a year to train.

It was a picture of Farage with a big cock for a nose, but I feared I'd get the ban hammer for that so changed it to something that always makes me laugh.

I've got two weeks off work after today. Usually would be looking forward to it but I'm dreading it. I don't know how I'm going to fill my days with so much time to think and no work as a distraction.

Make a list of some jobs to do around the house or garden, or do some voluntary work maybe?

Find a new hobbie or go for walks and take photos etc?

I would advise against taking herbal medicines if you're already using medication provided by a GP, at least consult your GP first. One example is St John's wort, if taken alongside Sertraline it can increase the side effects.

Appears to be bang on this advice :-

Mixing ayahuasca with other drugs

The effects of taking ayahuasca with other drugs − including over the counter or prescribed medications − can be unpredictable and may increase the risk of harm.

  • Ayahuasca and Tramadol: Tramadol is known to lower the seizure threshold, which increases the risk of seizures when using psychedelics.
  • Ayahuasca and Antidepressants: Due to the presence of MAOIs in ayahuasca, combining it with drugs that contain selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) can be dangerous.
  • Ayahuasca and / : When combined with MAOIs in ayahuasca, the potency and duration of phenethylamines in MDMA can increase unpredictably.
Ayahuasca and : Tyramine, present in many alcoholic beverages, can dangerously interact with MAOIs in ayahuasca, leading to an increase in blood pressure.

  • Ayahuasca and : This combination can lead to unpredictable and negative effects, and in rare cases, psychosis.
  • Ayahuasca and : This combination may increase anxiety levels which can lead to negative experiences.
  • Ayahuasca and : Combining MAOIs in ayahuasca with certain opioids has been associated with rare reports of severe and fatal adverse reactions.17,18
Using more than one drug or type of drug at the same time is called polydrug use.

How are all doing on this fine Monday night? I’ve just finished three 12 hour shifts then coming in to build wardrobes for the dragon. I’m knackered. Too old for this shit.
Hope we are all well as can be.
Hello Rhubarb, i'm getting on OK. Also want to remind @Gennaro Savastano he is not a part time Dad, he is their dad all the time. I know it sounds trite but it is true. You are their dad every minute of every day even if you can't always be with them.

Good luck with your flat pack wardrobes.

I know what you mean but the day to day dad duties that I took for granted have been taken from me and I can't do a thing about it. I miss them.

Had my heart set on a flat I had seen. Good location for work, close to the kids etc. Spent the last week trying to set up a viewing which I eventually arranged for tomorrow. Just had an e-mail cancelling as it's been taken. I know it's a relatively small problem but they just keep adding up.
I know. Feels like a pile on doesn't it. One thing after another, but, and this is my opinion, through the chats we've had and the support you have given to others on here, despite your low mood....that you can do it, you will make it, you will pick yourself up, swear your effing head off and carry on.

Thinking of you.

That stuff scares me. Ive taken LSD and it was a pretty miserable experience, I am not built for psychedelics

If it doesn't call, it doesn't call. LSD is synthetic, and I recommend staying away from that. I am not sure if you did it in a social or a ceremonial/professional space or setting, but there is a massive difference. I have never done it in a social setting, as it was drilled into me that it is blasphemous.

Plant medicine took me out of a really dark place 3 years ago. I can't really accurately articulate how powerful it truly is. As I may have mentioned, if you ever commit to it, make sure that you see a reputable professional who will ask you questions on your intentions, mindset, medication, etc.

I was watching a video which touched on this subject, a trained professional in mental health, Harvard trained if I remember correctly, basically said he see's more people who have tried these "fixes" who have made the problems much much worse than people who have found it helpful.

The problem being not everyone can afford to go to the Amazon, find a real shaman and take a guided journey, so the majority of people read about it and do it at home and just give it a shot, same with micro dosing, which can and does do more harm than good as it rewires the brain, not always for the best.

I suffer terribly with my mental health, but I have avoided all drugs and been trying to find ways to coup thats not chemicals, because a lot of the time these drugs have terrible side effects or mask issues for a while and when you come off them the issues come back.

Not against people using what ever works for them, but people have to be aware of the pros and the very real cons.

I took a break from the internet for a few days, 5 or 6 I think and my mood improved, kind of highlighted how everyday news can have an effect with out you even noticing.
