Different guitar styles (death metal is often tuned down to D standard and has very technical riff patterns, black metal features full chords and tremolo picked riffs and many repeating patterns), different drumming styles, black metal features a lot of ambient sections etc. Only a few people burned churches down ;)

Not death metal, but given a few people mentioned Slipknot earlier in the thread I thought it was appropriate.

Has anyone heard the two new tracks from Corey Taylor's upcoming solo album released today? Not at all what I was expecting him to come out with, and utter shite.

That said, Marilyn Manson's new single reminds me strongly of Bowie's Space Oddity. I like it a lot despite it's turn away from metal.

I`ve just heard it and to be honest, not as bad as I was expecting. Quite like the groove it`s got.

Never heard of them before. I wouldn't call this death metal, but I liked it. Drum open was great.
I listened to a couple of their other tracks, and one called Hell I really liked. Alarm riff and blastbeats. 🤙
