Crowd for sat

550 tickets have been sold this evening, so still a chance of over 30k....

Thing is we're all pissed off. I certainly am. But it never crossed my mind not to go Saturday.

Uncomfortable truth.

The ground is way too big for us on average.

Should’ve been built at about 35k. Build up the demand so tickets are like gold dust. That’s what the mags did years ago and many up there amongst my friends were reluctant to give up ST’s for years because of it.

Murray was so obsessed at keeping up with the Jones’s instead of investing in the team.

It would be disgraceful. What's going on with our fanbase recently has really opened my eyes and I now understand why no one will ever get chance to build anything at Sunderland.

Weak as piss.

As I’ve just posted, we pride ourselves on being a big club yet it’s shocking how many quickly walk away.

I love your optimism mate.

In my utopia of having a fortune and owning the club, first thing I would do is knock that stadium down and build a 30k bear pit. Steep sides, crowd on top of the players and more or less a sell out every week irrespective of who we are playing.

The 4 lads I sit with are in Magaluf on Saturday. I can't do 4 nights away anymore like.

Others will have made end of the season arrangements too but I hope we can still get 30K there.

Me and another mate (former ST holder) are going in the Black Cats Bar. Pleased he's agreed, I was almost inviting the wife :)

Aye but it'll still be disappointing. Cup games (especially the early rounds) I can sort of understand; I go to them, but some will feel that we're bound to get knocked out later and there's so many games to go to they can't be bothered (still can't explain the low semi final crowd mind).

This one though, if you've paid to go to every league game why would you stop now when the most important game of the season comes around? I know it was a league above, but we had 34,500 for the crystal palace play off, and that was significantly higher than the average attendance. Equally the Sheffield United play off game is still seen as one of the best games at the stadium. Having the first leg at home won't have helped I suppose, people might be keener to go if it was the decisive leg, but I still don't know why you'd go to Rochdale at home and not this. I do realise some will simply not be able to make it, but I'd still expect over 30,000 for this
I totally agree, I think Palace brought about 6,000 though didn't they for the last play off semi?

Wasn’t the crowd for the Palace play off game a bit shite? Can’t remember.

Edit, 34k but I remember being disappointed.

Nah the palace play off was canny well attended tbh. Like you say it was 34,500 but that was significantly up on our average of about 26,000. Mind @SafcForeverFTM makes a fair point, they had a fair few up for it, not sure it was 6000 mind. Still, the home end was a bit above the average.

I do think for many they're less bothered because it's a first leg, get the feeling that if the second leg was at home on the same time on a Saturday there'd be a lot more interest

Fans blow hot and cold, supporters support.

We have way too many fans who just want to pick and choose yet think they are supporters.
That and we have a large proportion of fans who are as weak as piss

I agree with you, but then if you're a pick and choose fan I can't believe (if you can get there and can afford it) you wouldn't pick and choose this one! It's a massive game for the club, and if you don't go to it there won't be another home game for about 3 months. Other than boxing day just if you're back visiting family for Christmas I can't think of any I'd choose over a play off

The take up of tickets has the feel of a cup game.
I think many just won't go if it's not included in their season ticket.
Disappointing, but the result is more important.

To sell over 12k before Saturday when the season ticket priority is over is optimistic.
Unless we offer them to the mags.

The reaction to the price being set at £20 summed up some of our fans.

The pubs in town on Saturday will be heaving and people will be spending greater than £20 watching it on the tele.

So disappointed.
A lot of those fans moaning about price will piss it up a wall in an hour.

While it seems bad/low at the minute hopefully it’s just due to the bank holiday and online problems some season card holders have had that’s the main cause of it. Couple of ours didn’t get theirs until about 7pm tonight so missed the deadline for reserving their seats and someone had already taken them. Now the ticket office is open for a few days before the match we might see solid sales up to Saturday, and hopefully any season card holders that have said they aren’t going change their mind as the week goes on.
