In laws once asked what food we specialise in in the North East. Struggled a bit tbh.

Edit. Same as London to be fair. Pie and jellied eels.

I think British food is ok if you have grown up with it but I can understand why foreigners think traditional british cuisine is crap.

White bread isn't healthy but wholemeal with a few ancient grains hoyed in is fine in moderation I guess. Crisps are the work of the devil.....once tried you're hooked for life. Walkers "Cool original" tortillas are the crack cocaine of the snack world imo. I almost develop alien hand syndrome when I walk past them in the supermarket.
I know the felling, I love hot monster munch.

Unreal.

Quite like ready salted (ridge cut) crisps with lime pickle chutney, has to be decent bread though

Nowt better on a nice frosty day than a bowl of broth loaded with ham & pearl barley with a nice stotty to mop it up with.

I'm sure the French have similar rustic variations (probably with some form of beans in) in regions like Alsace & Haute-Savoie, not everything has to be haute cuisine.

They score high on initial satisfaction but the feeling is quickly tempered by the mess they leave on your palate.
Orh mate the mess they leave when you eat them, goes all ower!... and the state of my teeth after

It's like watching porn.

To be done by yourself when no one else can judge you!

Northumberland lamb is a thing I think? Not sure.
Oh aye smoked kippers. We've got them.
