Coventry, Ipswich and Hull

I think seeing how well the promoted teams did this year (burnley aside) shows that with clever recruitment and tactics staying up can be done. It will be hard but we've proved it. The flip side to this is that we've proved it, so now all the other established PL teams will be shitting themselves because they've "got away with it" for 2 seasons, only to see Wolves and West Ham relegated. I think the transfer market will be particularly brutal this season and they won't be taking for granted that these teams will go straight back down. Nor should we. I think that they will struggle, but if they try to do what we did tactically in keeping tight at the back and being solid defensively, with a focus on counter attacking football, supplemented by additions to their squads, they can have a good go of it.
 

it’ll be really interesting to see their approaches (as it was last season with Leeds and Burnley) over the summer.

Imagine naturally they’ll have three very different approaches and potential the odd curveball in there.

SCR makes it incredibly hard now though. We got lucky when we came up.
 
Ipswich will have learnt from their last time here - id like them all to stay up as long as it's not at our expense.

I agree they won’t do a Sunderland either. Can’t see them qualifying for Europe.

I don’t think they will have learned. McKenna is not pragmatic enough, I’ll reserve judgement on all of them to see who they buy.

I think there's multiple clubs in the division that would consider spending towards £10m on them.

We've got a squad of players with a very strong Championship CV. Most of them have been in an FA Cup semi final, play off semi final and a title winning side.

The likes of Eccles, Torp, Kitching, Bidwell and Latibeaudiere would be very good signings for the likes of Birmingham/Wrexham and others who won't to move to the next level. I wouldn't also be surprised to see Haji Wright getting a European move.

Are Spurs for example completely out of the woods ? It's their second 17th place finish on the trot. We have had managers who have saved us at the last minute who have immediately run in to trouble when the new season started. Or will things at say Palace or Brentford suddenly implode ?

I wasn't surprised when it happened to West Ham not because I thought it was likely to happen to them but there will always be Clubs that develop internal problems that causes them to self destruct.

How many do you reckon you'll need? Because having watched you last season and going through our experience you'll need a massive overhaul. Not a dig btw, just curious as to how you see it.
 
5000 Coventry getting a free ST next season. That's 1 in 6 of their home support next season. That isn't going to help their football related income under SCR. Around £3m gone before they start.

Lampard saying as recently as yesterday their Championship players deserve a chance.

Taking the above at face value, that brings us back to you having just gutted your promotees for, relatively, little cash (in PL terms) and having to spend a fair bit more than that to 'stand still' in terms of numbers, let alone quality. Hope your scouts are good........

Probably us: next season we’ll probably do something perfectly Sunderland: win the Europa, therefore qualifying for CL, while simultaneously getting relegated from the PL and then have a 46 game season in the Championship alongside our charge towards eventual glory on 27th May 2028 beating PSG in Munich a week after securing promotion back to the premier league via the playoffs. Sunderland, man. Wonder what request a bet would give me odds wise for that…?

It will be interesting to see how the stadium ownership changes things. I'm sure a bit of money lost on 'free' season tickets will be balanced out by the increasing number of events at the CBS.

I'm not expert on the current rules but it's clear Doug King sees the stadium as something that might help level the playing field.

Hard to know. There's clearly a good base of a squad if assume include Onyeka and Rushworth sign.

I've been adamant that we won't spend big but Doug King is very good at pulling out surprises.
