+++ Coventry City v Maidstone United kick off 1945 ITV4 ITVX +++

Aye, I've felt the same when small clubs have drawn us. We had a few seasons of being the dream tie for the small clubs in rounds 1 and 2 (we normally went out in the first like), but by round 3 you'd totally understand a non league side being disappointed drawing us!

Still fancy you to get close to play offs this season like, really thought you'd do it until hull hit a run of form (as a sunderland fan I reckon they've done some witchcraft by actually strengthening their side in a transfer window mind)
Our injury list, particularly amongst our midfielders, is crazy. We'd love playoffs but being sensible, there are stronger teams above us such as Hull and WBA. We'll finish 7th or 8th. And that's nothing to cry about, we knew this was a rebuilding year with 11 players out in the summer and 10 in. It took time for them to gel and that pushed us back a lot. Didn't get started until Oct/Nov by which time the top 6 were already away from the pack.

Impressed with the Hull recruitment but I keep looking at their finances. They got a lot of lesser talent out on loan (not sales) and have brought in quality but at what cost ? 9 out (8 loans) and 7 in (4 loans). While their owner also owns a Turkish TV channel, that has to hurt their finances and their FFP. If they don't go up this season, they'll lose the loans and will hurt on wages next season.

Ah. It is what it is. We go into the next round, will probably get picked to play Blackburn away and slink off into the Championship darkness to tend our wounds.

Robins deserves a lot of praise. Your team seems to play in a very positive attacking manner nowadays which is a pleasant change. I always used to have Cov down as a tedious defensive team!

We were :lol: Robins has taken forward steps each season and used the transfer market to improve us bit by bit. Hamer and Gyokeres last season allowed us to play a very defensive but very fast counterattacking style. Not pretty for most of the game but it got results and the fans off their seats when we charged forward. Their sale has given us the finances to get better players so we're more positive now but we can also keep the ball longer. We were playing amazingly around Christmas but we've fallen out of form recently. Wrong time of year for the league but who knows.

We made the playoffs last season without a fit CB and only one striker who couldnt bulls back end with a banjo so don't give up all hope just yet

Tempering expectations. If we get there, wonderful. If we don't, we know why and we build for next season. It's the Coventry way. We don't expect good things until they pull up and hit us in the face :D

This forum needs a Cov v NUFC 1/4 final tie🤭

Would love it if Coventry dump them out, to lose to lower league opposition in the cup would be humiliating for them. no chance of it happening tomorrow unfortunately as Blackburn are hopeless and have only 1 win the last 13 league games.

What if you get to both the FA Cup final and the play off final? Thanks to some brilliant scheduling between the FA and EFL, those games are scheduled to be on consecutive days over the second May Bank Holiday weekend.

Yeah, it won't matter to us as we won't be in either final. But it shows how pathetic the EFL and FA are for not having verified their calendars before publishing them.

It's been raised. I've tweeted both organisations about the dates and have heard nothing back. FA are probably expecting (praying?) that no EFL club gets to the FA Cup final and the EFL don't often talk to other governing bodies.
