How many CC games get to 200 overs? Can’t think of many. I first thought of the game where Brian Lara scored 501 against us for Warks, they got 810/4 that day but only batted for 135 overs!
Really hope Somerset do it, but they should have declared earlier imo
It’s very easy to say that Somerset should’ve declared earlier but you’d expect to get 10 wickets in 200 overs

Tbf mate if you look back in the thread said the same on Saturday night a couple of times ,was concerned they would bat on for Banton which I thought was wrong decision rather than declare overnight

Get your point and 99 times out of 100 you would not expect that, but to bat to 670 after Worcs only got what they did in the first innings was too much imo

Im not sure about that like

This is a freak thing batting for this long for a draw, how many overs do you need if 200 is not enough?!?

It’s not why they didn’t win the game at all

They had 200 overs

200!!!

The point I am trying to make mate is that Worcs only got 154 in the first innings so did Somerset need to have a over 500 lead?

Like I said on Saturday night they should have declared when they had an over 400 lead.

There was no need at all really to bat again on the Sunday morning what was the point other than to let Banton score more?

Of course your right 200 overs should 99.9% of the time be enough but it was more the principle to put team before individual I was getting at.

It’s a fair point to say that extra time batting on the Sunday morning could have made the difference between winning and drawing although of course 200 overs should have been enough

I am not saying anything I did not say on Saturday night at the time

Yeah but you were wrong on Saturday night too snd you’re still wrong on Monday night

Yeah but you were wrong on Saturday night too
What was the point though of Somerset batting again on the Sunday morning?

Can’t think of any reason why that could have been the right decision when they were already over 400 ahead?

I am confused how you can’t see that extra time may have given them more chance to take that 1 extra wicket

‘Somerset would almost certainly have won if they had not batted on so long. Needing 670 to feel safe is a poverty-stricken way of playing, which met with its just reward’

Above is a quote taken from comments on the BBC website

So not just me wrong mate ;)

Leach isn’t going to bowl out Head etc if he can’t bowl out Worcester in 200 overs ;)

How did Bashir get on? ;)

I wish you would read posts properly mate?

I have accepted more than accepted 200 overs should be enough.

But I making the point more time would have gave them more chance to win the game which you have not answered?

And you have also not answered what was the point in Somerset batting again on the Sunday morning

Who says they would have won with a few more overs? the game would not have ended up the exact same way, they might have conceded a lead.

I didn’t say they would have won, I said they would have had more chance of winning if they declared on Saturday night rather than batting on Sunday morning?

I really can’t see how that can be disputed?

Or why they needed to bat on soo long there was no reason too?

Imo they batted on further to see if Banton could break more records as thought game in the bag.

Which whether they would have won or not is the wrong way to look at cricket matches, team should always come first
