Think Rob is pretty decent, seems to have become a Durham fan which even better. He's also been doing the job while still studying at Uni, course likely just about to finish.Oh right i only managed to watch a session of the uni match on YouTube and the young lad, "Rob" was commentating with Thorpe.
I know Marty was one of the last actual BBC employees to do the county commentaries most where just freelance doing it via the BBC comnentary feed. Not sure if the "in house" youtube streams has made the commentary only a bit redundant.Think Rob is pretty decent, seems to have become a Durham fan which even better. He'll have no doubt been doing the job on a voluntary basis too.
As someone that did Journalism at uni I know first hand how hard graft it is and how difficult it is to break into it(as I did not).
I'd be sad if Marty has been replaced, seeing as they had him, Ash and Rob last season. Better having more voices, but cost cutting is rife everywhere in business.

I suppose we will find out at 11am tomorrow or whatever time they start.
I am beginning to get nervous with all these predictions. I'd rather no one noticed us coming up on the rail and bursting through.

This seems to confirm Marty will be commentating this season.

ConfirmedHeard we've signed Ashton Turner for the T20. No idea how true but hey ho
I have seen the PR Media lad at Durham asking on Twitter for aspiring commentators in the area. Could be opportunities this year he says. So I wonder if Marty is still doing the BBC radio comms but the club are putting their own comms on the stream?
I agree with the opinion on Rob Rush though. I’ve always enjoyed listening to him when he’s been there.
So no Marty on stream but still doing the BBC commentary then.Match preview today on the club site -You must be logged on to see external links

The Club’s match centre will be in operation for the fixture with live scorecards, statistics & video highlights as they happen. You can watch the game live via Durham’s match centre and Durham YouTube channel with live commentary brought to you by Ash Thorpe and Rob Rush. Durham Cricket will have full coverage on social media, with a full match report at the close.

Think other counties have been doing that. It's OK but you only get a pro durham voice, which doesn't give you the full flavour IMHO. And when it's an away match you don't get a pro durham voice at all, at least at some Counties. So no Marty on stream but still doing the BBC commentary then.
Odd but whatever I guess.
Yep, Lancs have got Bumble on comms today. Although he's not going to have much cricket to talk about.Think other counties have been doing that.
