County Cricket 2023

Intriguing final day of the Group Stage tomorrow for the other group to ours.

Lancashire 8 pts (0.797 NRR)
Kent 8 pts (-0.353 NRR)
Notts 7 pts (-0.157 NRR)

Lancashire travel to Notts, Kent play Hampfrica. Notts need to absolutely batter Lancashire to progress because the NRR is mikes apart. Kent winning in a scenario that sees Notts smash Lancashire would see them pip both.

Am I missing something??
Surely if Notts beat Lancs they'll have 9pts to Lancs 8pts. NRR doesn't come into it.

10 wickets in the match for Athers' lad after a 7 wicket haul in an innings earlier in the season. Not bad going for someone I thought was a batsman.

Not much in between mind hopefully he's improving he was batting a place or 2 higher so obviously handy at both
Maybe not but it's not often you get someone just turning their arm over getting figures like that (although I remember Bess' last test five for)

In South Africa wasn’t it yeh be good to have another quality spin option develop as much as leach does a solid job it would be good to have different options

Shaping up to be an excellent climax to the season next week as far as Division One goes.

Surrey are currently well under the pump at home to bottom side Northants. Whilst Essex are well on top in their game at home to Hampfrica. Surrey were 18 points ahead of Essex going into this round of fixtures and it’s more or less impossible for Surrey to win their game (barring contrived results) so it seems likely that the sides will be neck and neck ahead of next weeks final round.

Would be class if the Sky cameras are at both teams’ fixtures covering them in some way - although knowing them, they won’t even bother covering one of them.

In terms of relegation, Northants MUST win this week to stay alive - which may play into Surrey’s hands as alluded to above - but what seemed like an irretrievable situation a couple of days ago now has a bit of life! They host Essex next week, intriguingly.

Elsewhere, Middlesex continue to look horrific, but if rain saves them again they should atleast still hold a slim advantage over Kent who certainly look destined for a draw.

Hampshire about to all but hand Surrey the title here.

Dawson has to be on the plane to India. What a season he's had with both ball and bat.

Essex lose to Hampshire. Surrey 20 now points ahead of Essex. Surrey go to Hampshire for last game.

Essex home to already relegated Northants. Going to need 24 points and a miracle to win the title.

Middlesex lose to Warks so a point behind Kent going into the relegation decider.

Kent home to Lancs and Middlesex away to Notts

Doesn't look like there's a live CC game on Sky next week.

Is this the first time they haven't bothered showing a game on the last week of the season? You'd expect them to be wanking over the prospect of televising Surrey winning the title.

Anyone Know how prize money for the County Championship is allocated? It was £350k when we won the championship in 2008. Surely winning 2nd division will bring a tangible reward for both club and players.

Poor form that like. I’m not surprised in the slightest, but it’s still shit nonetheless. Intriguing relegation battle on if they don’t fancy the title race.

Points deduction for the start of next season 😉
