Could Leicester go bust?

Interesting article, if only for their description of Salmon Pants.
I never wish on my footballing neighbors L1. THe Charlie’s of the world will be circling like vultures to get their hands on Leicester City’s assets. He is right they where soft on them points reduction but there son just ran it to the ground he should sell up but doesn’t want to sell it for .10 pence on the pound…
Covid and their owner’s death really did the damage. Since then they’ve made mistake after mistake.
Son was not prepared to take over businesses

Absolutely, if something political happened that they didn't like they'd be gone, sadly I don't see that happening tho.
I don't want them to walk away. I think that at this point they're perfectly happy doing the absolute bare minimum investment, with no training ground, no new stadium, half the staff you need to be a competent football club missing, the manager's nephew running the transfer business, Jack effing Ross...

They don't give a solitary shit any more, and all the goals they had when they bought them have been achieved (seat at the football governance table, World Cup, probable Champions League spot). If the horrible stinking orcs thought they had it bad under Ashley, wait till they see this new and improved version of "managed decline"

It’s scary that a club with such recent success can be in this state, they’ve really only got el khanouses and fatawau (who would fit into our team imho), to sell if they go down, the mismanagement is sinful tbh, got to feel for the supporters.

Faes would probably fetch a fee

Monga looks a superb prospect too

I think they would get a decent return on Mavididi and Jordan James too

A summer clearout and to start again is probably best for the club. They might go down, but with a core of young players they could bounce back. At the very least they will secure the clubs future though

Living there - lots of mates who are foxes fans say its a distinct possibility

I know loads from having an office in west mids for nearly 20 years

Only 4 years ago or so, I was sat between 2 at a dinner the Monday night before Cheltenham and their arrogance towards me as a Sunderland fan made me rather annoyed, as far as they were concerned they were a huge PL force and we were nothing

Looking forward to Cheltenham……

Just a thought like, but I wonder why nobody else in the world has come up with opening a hotel on a football trainning ground. Just a thought like🤣
Yes, you’re right, you’d have to go a long way to find a very successful hotel on a football training ground 🤣

Cough, cough…. Middlesbrough….

Oi! It's not just one hotel, there's the old hall being refurbished and the new Michelin star restaurant is under construction. Looking great so far, cos I say so.

Those decrying the PSR rules and how they are “handicapping” the Visitors keep insisting the Saudis would never walk away. They could do so tomorrow in a heartbeat and not give a flying fuck.

The only thing I dont get is whether there should be a difference between a football club being funded by debt (Ellis Short and Sunderland) and a club where the debt is converted to equity (which is what the likes of the Saudis want to do). If a donor is prepared to underwrite any debt then surely theres no risk to the clubs future in doing that? Perhaps all it needs to finish the loop is for all contract commitments to be converted to a liability, placed on the balance sheet and all donors need to finance that via debt or equity conversion in advance so all clubs debts and liabilities are secured, therefore all businesses that depends on them being paid have that reassurance.

I’ve had a soft spot for Leicester since they upset the big boys in 2016 but having read what they did back in 2002 when they shafted all of their creditors I find myself having little sympathy tbh.
There was plenty of people mentioning it in 2016 on here, in the national press, on talkshite, in fan forums especially Forest n Derby ones. Boro did it back in the 80s. Plenty of other clubs anarl.

Hmmmm. It gets by.

How do you come to this conclusion though? What is happening to Leicester financially could happen to the Saudi's 57 times over and they could afford to settle the debt with 1% of their wealth.

I kind of see it like us paying £1 a year for Netflix. We never watch it but we can't be arsed to cancel it. If we ever need it, it's there.

You mean Rockliffe Hall? The very successful bit through me that's all.
It's posted one year of profit( 2022) since it opened, and that's only because people were doing "staycation". Cough Cough 🤣🤣

No one can deny the owner and his family pumped a lot of money into that club and his son has tried in vain to keep it going.
Like Short they are getting pelters and people have short memories.
One advantage is KLD knows his way round football clubs and in tandem with departed Speakman has set up good infrastructure… but things quickly change.
Murray is almost revered these days but before he left and in tandem with Reid ( who had no idea how to replace Quinn ) he was detested.
Look at unrest up the road despite hundreds of millions spent in last 5 years.
The football worm turns very quickly nowadays
