Oh for the gentle days of Arlott, Johnson, CMJ, Trueman, Mosey, Bailey, Blowers. Everything about cricket (life?) seemed so relaxed and uncomplicated.

This entirely ^^^

Cricket back then was Cricket. Summer holidays sat in my parents back garden, BBC Radio 4 TMS on quietly, then ever so often to escape the heat putting BBC 1 on and watching the Test on TV.....sheer bliss.

Now it's all shouting, and not commentating, pink balls, coloured clothing etc....life and times do change...but the lovely sport of Cricket has been ruined:cry:

Jeremy Coney and Vic Marks on TMS are superb.

Love listening to these two whenever NZ play England in a Test Series.

Good commentators realise that the people who watch and listen to cricket, only want a) thoughtful insight and b) the benefit of their experience in telling us what has just happened/ought to happen next. No over-the-top nonsense from them when a wicket falls or a 6 is hit.
