I'm heading back from Dorset on Friday, might have a detour to the Farmer's dog for lunch. It’s more than just a pub like. I was there the other day and aside from the pub there is that Grand Tour Tent which has a DS farm shop, hawkstone shop, a shop selling various meats from other farms that also sells salads and pasties, an outside bar, the farmers puppy which sells food to people unable to get into pub and finally a pizza van.
Have to say the steak and hawkstone ale pastie was superb.

will maybe go at some point once the the fuss dies down..if only to support farmering...I like Jeremy and almost all of his shows but I have no desire to visit the farm or the pub.
I am looking forward to the next series of Clarkson’s farm.

lad next door to us has just passed his farmering qualification and has started.
I'm sure there's plenty better ways to support farming than giving money to someone who's prime motive is to make content to fulfil a multi million pound contract with Amazon Prime.will maybe go at some point once the the fuss dies down..if only to support farmering...
good point very well made..I'm sure there's plenty better ways to support farming than giving money to someone who's prime motive is to make content to fulfil a multi million pound contract with Amazon Prime.
I'm not joking here by the way, entirely serious. Its entertainment with a tinge of honesty rather than a lot of it. There's farmers near home who need support - try a farm shop near you!
The grub in his pub is pretty decent and as you only have an hours dining slot the service is good too. The surrounding businesses in Burford are benefiting from the footfall too.
Burford is nice but as it is on a main route in and out of the Cotswolds it’s very busy with traffic at all times. We last stayed there in January for a couple of nights when it was a bit quieter and there were still quite a number of people doing similar. Strange thing about it is that there aren’t really any takeaway places or places to dine unless you use the pubs and hotels.Drove through it going to and from TFD and it was absolutely rammed liked. Looks a lovely little place too.
He spends some of that money buying produce from local farmers to stock his shop and serve in his restaurant.I'm sure there's plenty better ways to support farming than giving money to someone who's prime motive is to make content to fulfil a multi million pound contract with Amazon Prime.

Sure, not questioning that. But at the foundation level, its basically a prop for a TV show. Whereas there's farm shops all over the country that are the genuine article. He spends some of that money buying produce from local farmers to stock his shop and serve in his restaurant.
Money they wouldn't otherwise be making.
So the folk who give him their money are supporting farming by doing so.
He has two actual farm shops stocking actual farm produce.Sure, not questioning that. But at the foundation level, its basically a prop for a TV show. Whereas there's farm shops all over the country that are the genuine article.
Mind, not sure I wouldn't die instantly from their prices, but still![]()
Of course. There's clearly a full farming operation 24/7/365. I mean, that's why Kaleb exists. He has two actual farm shops stocking actual farm produce.
They're open all year round, not just when the cameras are rolling.
Aye because they are cheaper as they are cutting out the middlemen.good point very well made..
we've just finished rewatching the first series. i do think it started off as just a good tv idea. sometimes i think that's all it is but on the other hand i wonder if he actually got more emotionally invested in it than he thought.I'm sure there's plenty better ways to support farming than giving money to someone who's prime motive is to make content to fulfil a multi million pound contract with Amazon Prime.
