Clarkson’s farm

It’s more than just a pub like. I was there the other day and aside from the pub there is that Grand Tour Tent which has a DS farm shop, hawkstone shop, a shop selling various meats from other farms that also sells salads and pasties, an outside bar, the farmers puppy which sells food to people unable to get into pub and finally a pizza van.

Have to say the steak and hawkstone ale pastie was superb.
I'm heading back from Dorset on Friday, might have a detour to the Farmer's dog for lunch.

Went yesterday, unless you have a booking for the restaurant (which are booked 1 month in advance), the food queues are 2 hours for ordering in the tent 🙄.

On the upside, Hawkstone Session is tremendous, as is the rhubarb cider.

If you can, get there for 11ish. I did that last week and there were still a few tables available.

There is a breakfast menu and the dinner menu starts at 12. I started queuing for the lunch menu at 11:50 and our lass was eating it at 12:10. The queue was ridiculous though after 12.

Failing that, the pasties are lush and they serve them at the butchers counter inside the tent which had a queue of only about 5 minutes.

I like Jeremy and almost all of his shows but I have no desire to visit the farm or the pub.

I am looking forward to the next series of Clarkson’s farm.
will maybe go at some point once the the fuss dies down..if only to support farmering...

lad next door to us has just passed his farmering qualification and has started.

I'm sure there's plenty better ways to support farming than giving money to someone who's prime motive is to make content to fulfil a multi million pound contract with Amazon Prime.

I'm not joking here by the way, entirely serious. Its entertainment with a tinge of honesty rather than a lot of it. There's farmers near home who need support - try a farm shop near you!

The grub in his pub is pretty decent and as you only have an hours dining slot the service is good too. The surrounding businesses in Burford are benefiting from the footfall too.

Drove through it going to and from TFD and it was absolutely rammed liked. Looks a lovely little place too.

Burford is nice but as it is on a main route in and out of the Cotswolds it’s very busy with traffic at all times. We last stayed there in January for a couple of nights when it was a bit quieter and there were still quite a number of people doing similar. Strange thing about it is that there aren’t really any takeaway places or places to dine unless you use the pubs and hotels.

He spends some of that money buying produce from local farmers to stock his shop and serve in his restaurant.

Money they wouldn't otherwise be making.

So the folk who give him their money are supporting farming by doing so.

Sure, not questioning that. But at the foundation level, its basically a prop for a TV show. Whereas there's farm shops all over the country that are the genuine article.

Mind, not sure I wouldn't die instantly from their prices, but still :)

He has two actual farm shops stocking actual farm produce.

They're open all year round, not just when the cameras are rolling.

Of course. There's clearly a full farming operation 24/7/365. I mean, that's why Kaleb exists.

I didn't say it was all a lie, I said there's a hint of genuine, but the foundation exists due to a TV deal

we've just finished rewatching the first series. i do think it started off as just a good tv idea. sometimes i think that's all it is but on the other hand i wonder if he actually got more emotionally invested in it than he thought.
i think as you age you sometimes appreciate and see things you never gave a second thought to when younger. my trusting nature hopes this is the case but who knows?

Thinking about popping down in September on my way to Southampton. Dunno if I can be arsed with massive queues and I'll have 2 kids with me.

We have heard numerous stories now saying the next series will be the last with everyone taking a break. Jeremy has had a couple of health issues and the rumour is this next series could well be the last.

Shame as its top notch telly. With so many stories that could be developed or resolved.

1. Jeremy and Lisa to marry

2. Alan the builder health update

3. Kaleb to buy his own farm

4. Jeremy’s kids get involved in the running of the farm

5. Jeremy stands for Parliament 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
