Clarkson’s farm

Don't drink Coke so that wouldn't bother me. Promoting British produce is all well and good but refusing to serve coffee, non-English wine or pepper is rather limiting and just pushes prices up needlessly

There are some good English wines but they cannot compete on price or variety with those from abroad.
Agree. Not serving pepper, coke or foreign wine is just a step too far.

By all means champion British goods but that must be accompanied by some level headed fiscal pragmatism.

Just driven past the Farmers Dog coming out of Witney. The overflow carpark is full, groups of people dashing across the A40, stuck for five minutes at the rounderbout waiting to get past all the cars trying to get into the turnoff. There was even a Farmers dog bus heading past me (first time I've seen it, so maybe a private hire?). Looks like my idea of hell. But say what you like, for now at least, it seems to have caused a bit of a sensation and was a shrewd business move.

I was having a drink with a mate and his lass yesterday. They live in Sunderland and are planning a trip down to the Farmers Dog.

They are going to stay over somewhere near there.

Jeremy should build a hotel next.

He can have that idea for nowt.

Filming is currently underway with series 5.

The release date is expected to be May 2026.

However Jeremy has said that this might be it and there will not be a series 6.

They want a good break and won’t be back unless there is a “good story to tell”

I heard they want a break after 5 years of none stop filming but I wonder if they’ll end up regretting it if they stop for a while.

Farming is a 24/7 job anyway so they may as well have the film crew following them around. I think Clarkson will be 65 when series 5 is released so if they have a 2 year break for example, that’ll make him 67 and 68 by the time a potential series 6 come out.

We all know he’s a mega wealthy bloke who can’t be arsed best of time, so I doubt he’ll want to be farming into his 70s. I worry if they stop for a break, it won’t be back.

It’s more than just a pub like. I was there the other day and aside from the pub there is that Grand Tour Tent which has a DS farm shop, hawkstone shop, a shop selling various meats from other farms that also sells salads and pasties, an outside bar, the farmers puppy which sells food to people unable to get into pub and finally a pizza van.

Have to say the steak and hawkstone ale pastie was superb.

Knowing Clarkson, he'll be counting every one who does deliveries and everyone who works for the companies who have a stall in his tent!

I wonder what the future of the pub will be when the TV series comes to an end?

The majority of the business seems to be tourists.

Hope it doesn't fold for the sake of the local businesses who supply it.

Good question. I think it will be fine as it’s quite close to some tourist traps anyway (Bourton on the water, Burford ) and people will be curious to go.

As said earlier the steak pastie I got was superb. Our lad got a proper lamb dinner and she said that was lush so if it keeps it’s standards I think it will be ok.

Coming home tomorrow but tempted to go back to buy some more of them pasties

Some gender confusion going on in this post.
