Not done any European city breaks for a good few years now. Where do you reckon is best for a bit history, cultcha, architecture and the sauce?

Flying from newcastle preferably, Leeds/Bradford or Edinburgh? Three nights mid April.

Need a bit inspiration.

Not been myself but heard from a family member that Budapest is really good.

Aye it's class I was there but about 13 years ago or so. So would be looking for something different. So Ireland, Copenhagen, Berlin, Budapest, Prague, Paris and Amsterdam off the list :-O

Girona. Fly direct from Newcastle to GironaBarcelona airport, which is about 10k from Girona and 80k from Barcelona.

The city is compact and full of character, especially the old town (as used in Game of Thrones). As a city break it is very manageable, good walks, cafes and restaurants, and you will be relaxed instead of rushing around thinking you might miss something.

Great destination.

How to spend a weekend in Girona
