Yeah of course depending on circumstances fitness with bowlers etc etc you make the judgement call, just think too much pressure on captains nowadays to take any risks to win gamesIt’s not about being risk averse it’s about giving you the best chance of winning the game by allowing your bowlers to be fresh and the pitch to be at its worst. Decisions like this aren’t made without teams being fully aware of all of the data beforehand.
Struggling to find the balance I think. Typical English pitches which suit a Rushy for example doesn't get you bowlers that can get players out on flat pitches or quality spinners because they dont get the chance to bowl. I do take your point though. They'll do away with county cricket with flat pitches like this mind.

Just my opinion mate but in that match 3 of the 4 openers in the first innings scored 332 runs of 756 balls. If it had been over in 3 days people would say it’s not a good advert
It’s not about being a good advert
Yeah I saw the other week they need to find a fine balance. At the moment it's far too extreme. Whilst it's good for the paying public to see an England captain go bezerk and the pitch has done its job for England and Stokes, I'd always like to think this sort of freak innings was a one off but then the day after we hit 170ish off 20 odd overs.... Does that make for a good competition/good viewing for spectators? It's a no from me. Honestly believe spectators are been short changed at the moment, it doesn't make for a good competition or viewing.Struggling to find the balance I think. That's it, I don't think the ECB will look at the results and think "oops, to many bore draws" I think they'l respond exactly as you said, "county bowlers have to find ways to be effective in these conditions".Don't remember too many people complaining when stokes was blasting off like.
If the aim is to get players ready for international cricket then you could argue these results suggest it's working, it's down to county bowlers to develop answers
It doesn’t it can’t be good viewing dead wickets and no chance of a result happened too often this season for me and more importantly it willYeah I saw the other week they need to find a fine balance. Looking at the current scores - if they go at an average to good T20 type rate they'll win.
On a more wider point think the current Warks V Lancs match far to negative of a match imo and not a good advert for 4 day cricket

Yeah there as been a bit of a collapse so could still happen but for 90% of the game it has looked a draw despite only 361 and 315 scored in the first innings looks more than likely only 3 innings will happen. There’s still a chance Lancashire can force a win.![]()
Earlier on we had 'Roadworks on M5' and 'Stop Off At Wetherby'Plenty of new Marty Bingo numbers in the last 15 minutes or so .Stowe,Moreton in the Marsh, Black Bear pub,etc![]()
Not anymoreThere’s still a chance Lancashire can force a win.![]()
Ironically I think we might do quite well this year.As I've just said to someone... Roll on the T20![]()
(never thought I'd say that)
