CC :: Warwickshire v Durham

Nobody said he's shite you daftie, just complained he isn't fit.

Where are all the people who were slagging off Ben Raine?

ECB said he isn't fit
Why did they open with Jones when he was doing well in the middle order?
I wasn't slagging him off if that's a dig at me but the abuse Stokes got was embarrassing on here.min. I do recall someone querying what exactly is Raine good for.
Not fit enough apparently!
Shouldn't be playing, reckless playing him.... Franklin out!!!

Literally nobody said this shite, pure straw man bashing.

Because Lees is injured, meaning we need an opener and Jones opens for the 2’s. AND he’s opened for the 1’s a few times already this season.

They ‘literally’ did. You might want to go back and have a look at a few of the T20 match threads.

Anyway, onto today - been busy as ferk at graft so barely been able to follow the score, just got in now so will sit down with a coffee in a bit and have a look at the highlights. Seems the second ball did for Warwickshire and the Jones dismissal (I watched the last 4 overs of the day ;)) was absolutely unplayable.

Cracking fight back though, bat all day tomorrow and go from there.

He opened successfully in a second innings run chase when the match was as good as in the bag. Previous performances opening were 11 ball ducks and the like.

Sean Dickson was signed specifically as an opening batsman.

Yeah people really called for Franklin out. The straw man bashing and "calling out" of other Durham fans is pathetic.

I’m not questioning or supporting his performances, merely answering your query with the fact he’s an opener as previous history suggests.

Dickson wasn’t selected. So of the 11 who were, who would you open alongside Bancroft?

Seamed hard but bowled him through the gate. You could be hyper critical of his defensive play and his wide open stance, but I personally don't blame the lad. But why harm a young lad's confidence sticking him in against the new ball after tea when he was having a nice run at 4?

Stokes clearly hasn't been 100% fit and, while he's produced moments of typical brilliance, he has been unpredictable and it's affected the balance of the team in both formats he's played in. Jones should have batted four with Dickson opening. Disagree if you want, I know I'm right. ;)

Right, so you’ve got Jones at 4 and Dickson opening. So who out of the current lineup have you dropped for Dickson?

Eh? Dickson is in the 11.

Start with team that beat Worcestershire, Dickson for Lees, Stokes for Burnham. Simples.

Dickson is playing ffs. He's listed as number six in the scorecard on match centre.

Dickson averaged like 10 opening last season though.

F*cking hell, it’s been a long day 🤯. Told you I’d been busy 🤦‍♂️

I'm not convinced he is the answer either, but he's an opener with centuries under his belt and I'd rather him get out for single figures than Jones. Why sign an experienced opener and bat him at six?

Nice if Durham could get a 100 run lead with an hour at the end of play to have a go at Warwickshire. Might depend on how long you know who bats for.
We would have to go some for that to happen, bat sensibly and get as many batting points as we can. If we can get to 300-325 by close of play tomorrow I would be delighted with that. Would give us maybe 60-65 overs to bowl them out again and still leave some overs left to get whatever target was set.

Your scenario is better but just cant see us getting 320 runs in around 80 overs and if we did we might as well throw the bat and try and get the extra batting bonus points. We will almost certainly have to bat again anyway with a 100 run lead, so get the extra runs in the first innings when bonus points apply would be my thinking.

Because not all openers can bat in England.

Maybe they view Jones as a better technique against moving new ball.

I agree it doesn't really make sense. Shouldn't be on the books if they don't have faith in him opening.
