CC :: Warwickshire v Durham

Because not all openers can bat in England.

Maybe they view Jones as a better technique against moving new ball.

I agree it doesn't really make sense. Shouldn't be on the books if they don't have faith in him opening.

Dickson has scored 318 opening the batting for Kent! He is an experienced opener and needs to sort his game out not be wrapped in cotton wool at six. It makes no sense playing him there when Burnham has a century there this season and still only 24 so has the potential to kick on. And of course Jones has been moved from his best batting position to accommodate him.

What has had the potential to be a great season has been stymied by some baffling selection decisions.
well the Ben Stokes critics will be happy now as he will no longer be involved in our T20 campaign

For the hundredth time, there are no 'Stokes critics', just people who don't think he is 100% fit. That included the ECB who now amazingly think he's fit enough to lead the team, days after saying he'd miss the entire series. I hope he has a cracking game, but don't be surprised if he doesn't and England fans moan like fuck.
Clark and Burnham brought in as Carse has been called up by England according to Marty.

Into this match? Replacing two all rounders with two batsmen?

Only three bowlers if Borthwick is still too injured to bowl.

I presume they've written off a result and brought them in to maximise our chances of batting points.
And Eckersley makes four. Don't forget the wicketkeeper is now a part time bowler, apparently.

Given that these call ups will not only affect this game but the 4 day game v Notts starting Sunday and at least one T20 game this could have a serious affect on our chances in both competitions at this crucial stage in the season. However, when your country needs you…..!

Suspect it will impact others more than us. Only really missing Carse, considering we never expect stokes to play much for us anyway, and we have other very decent bowling options
