CC : Surrey v Durham

Obvs we have had no choice here but wouldn't we have played some of the younger lads anyway in an end of season dead (for us) rubber? About as tough learning on the job as you get mind but why not, there's nothing on the line here for us.

I'd be concerned about damaging their confidence like Ollie Gibson getting smashed all over Hove the other year.

Potts and Carse England, Raine on paternity, Borthwick isn’t to be classed as a bowler these days but injured anyway, Coughlin injured but seems to be on the comeback and Wagner injured so went back home.

I seen a funny one on Twitter suggesting ECB have leant on Durham to weaken their side to ensure Surrey win the league. As much as I believe some counties get favouritism I’m not sure ECB got Raine’s wife pregnant and injured all of our other bowlers.

He’s not having it like even when I said Potts and Raine were the only changes to last week. Now reckons the ECB ordered us to drop them

Harsh but brutally honest mate . Raises the question of who if anybody’s done background checks . Looks like North and Soupy’s been shopping in Barry’s Bargains . As a last resort a loan deal with a bowler coming to the end of his contract
I sounds like a 'there is no alternative's ' type of pick for this match. We have apparently no bowlers other than a couple of promising but unproven youngsters and others unavailable for various reasons.

There's a hard luck story behind Holder. A young WI Test player, a very bad shoulder injury and a long road back narrowly avoiding forced retirement, so far. It may be that Durham is his last chance.

No, but they did needlessly take away Potts and Carse.

Only needless if they don’t play for England. The England games are needless though, which might be the point you are making. That’s an age old discussion that though! Even then there’s a squad of 15/16, so they can’t be accused of screwing our squad over to favour Surrey on that basis, which the bloke on Twitter is suggesting!

This morning’s session could turn out to be game defining . Will Holder join the party and be the leader of the pack or will the summer school leaver carry on regardless. Parky and Akkers will hopefully play a major role . Leede needs to guide the ex Beamish CC junior and the Norton debutant. Hopefully the team spirit comes through and we’re still in the game at stumps .
